Is it a variant of Emlyn for a boy or Emmeline for a girl?

I don't like it - sorry. It sounds clunky.

Pronounced Emmy-Lyn? If so I imagine it said in an American accent in the style of Peggy-Sue or Billy-Ray

I would say it as 'Emme-lyn' (how it looks!)

If you don't want it said this way - go for Emmalyn

I think Emmeline is pretty too. Emmelyn could sound like the Deep South if you stress the 'Lynn'

(I have an irrational dislike of -lyn names. Evelyn being so popular is a confusion to me. I think it feels outdated, reminds me of Marilyn)

If you want Emme-Lyn then that's one thing. Emmeline is much nicer, though.

Agree - don't like Emmelyn for a girl at all I'm afraid - how about Emma? Beautiful name, classic and actually not overly used these days.

Or Evangeline?

Emlyn Hughes wasn't nice, by the way: he didn't agree with people of African-Caribbean heritage playing for England...
