Sibling for Vivienne Rose

AngharadTheSplendid · 03/02/2016 02:27

DD is Vivienne Rose and just found out we are expecting DC2! It's early days but it took me more than nine months to settle on a name last time so would like to get a head start! I like quite unusual names for girls, but really classic names for boys. I also like a sweet Nn for use when they are little (we call DD Vivi).

Here's my (long) short list:

Vivienne and...

Xanthe (My no.1 favourite name but I worry about spelling/pron. Our surname is French and has to be spelt out already, so spelling both could be really annoying. Also in RL I've mentioned this name and had people go 'eh? Huh? What!?')
Adrianna (But can't think of a good nn, don't like Adie or Adri)
Persephone (Posy)
Claudia (Coco?? Might be pushing it!)
Roxana (Roxy)
Indiana or Indigo (Indi)
Astrid (Trixie?)
Seraphina (Fifi?)
Angelica (but don't like Angie)
Evangeline (but too many Evie's around)

Edward (Teddy)
Alexander (Xandy)
William (Will)

Any other suggestions very welcome,
Thank you.

What about Rufus for a boy?

AngharadTheSplendid · 07/06/2016 02:46

Hi again all,

We have found out that dc2 is definitely another dd. I've had a few more thoughts and would love opinions on these. Can you put them in order of favourites please?

Claudia (Coco)
Saskia (Sassy/Suki/Kiki)
Tahlia (Tals?)
And I'm STILL pining over Xanthe. Wondering if we could use Annie as a nickname when not wanting to explain her name to old dears in supermarkets! Or give her a middle name e.g. Arabella and use Bella as her nn? Of is that just convoluted?

Thoughts gratefully received!

Also quite liking Imogen but feel it maybe too popular...

I like Thalia spelled this way. Tahlia looks a bit made up. Claudia is nice too. Not keen on the others.

Sibella - watched an old, black and White film this morning (whilst ironing) and this was the name of the leading lady. I thought it was quite pretty.

BlueDove · 07/06/2016 13:29

My favourite is Angelica; then Evangeline Smile

I like all of your boys' names. My favourite would be William, but with the NN Billy... If not, Teddy is the best (I hate Xandy) Smile

Angel is a nice NN to Angelica? I agree, Angie is dreadful Confused I'm not sure what has been suggested, sorry, but here's mine:

Emmeline
Francesca
Madeleine
Mariella
Stephanie

I always heard of "Vivienne" and disliked it until I heard it paired with "Rose". My screen name is always a variant (Evienne) as nearly nobody has it.

Paired names could be:

Tierney (pron. Teer-nee)
Ariadne (pron. Ah-ree-ahd-nee)
Seraphina (nn Serah)
Sarai / Saraia (Sa-rai-yah)

Also, perhaps instead of Isabelle, you choose Sabelle or Sabella?

Pretty sure you're past time to choose a name, but maybe this will help someone else.

EvienneRose · 14/05/2017 03:46

Ah, and there's always one of my favorites for unusual beauty - Niamh.

Redpramlady · 14/05/2017 07:44

With reference to Claudia I know a claudianne (can't remember exact spelling maybe one n ) and thought that was pretty

PinkGlitter17 · 14/05/2017 07:52

Margot Lola?

I love Astrid.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/05/2017 08:33

Vivienne Rose and Miriam Violet, nick named Mimi.
Xanthe (Zan).

Thatextrainch · 14/05/2017 08:52

I expect the baby has been born and named now

Redpramlady · 14/05/2017 09:11

Oh haha! Yes didn't notice the date!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 14/05/2017 10:01

Claudia (Coco): Nice
Saskia (Sassy/Suki/Kiki): Ok
Tahlia (Tals?): Lovely! But I do prefer Thalia :)

flibberdy · 14/05/2017 10:05

Ooh OP, come back tell us what baby is named!

LilyWasThere · 14/05/2017 10:17

Word of warning re Claudia...

We called our DD Claudia, thinking nn Didi but she's become Claude. Not even Claudy!!

It actually suits her little off beat personality but you might have a fight in your hands to get it nn to something else!

Love Vivienne but my name is a V too and it was too similar!

CricketRuntAndRashers · 14/05/2017 10:25

Btw, I really love Angelica!

Annabelle?

KarineAimee · 14/05/2017 22:53

Oops, just seen date!

17caterpillars1mouse · 15/05/2017 10:23

Xanthe - I really like it and think it goes really well with Vivienne. I think with the rise in Xander lately it's pronunication will become easier to understand. If you love it to for it!

Adrianna - is it Adri-Anna or adri-arna pronunication? Annie as a nn?

Persephone (Posy) - I like but does seem a little try hard. I prefer Percie as a nn

Claudia (Coco?? Might be pushing it!)- not a fan sorry

Roxana (Roxy) - I like Roxy but not Roxana

Indiana or Indigo (Indi) - ok but they dont really go with Vivienne. Is it more you like Indi so are compromising on full name? They don't really seem to fit with your style

Astrid (Trixie?) - like Astrid but Tricia just seems a dog or cat name

Seraphina (Fifi?) - Seraphins is lovely but hate Fifi. Sera?

Angelica (but don't like Angie) - I know an Angelina who goes by Angel. Could work for Angelica too

Evangeline (but too many Evie's around) - Angel again? I agree too many Evie's. Ever maybe?

Edward (Teddy) - like but prefer just Ted
Alexander (Xandy) - ok. Xandy seems a bit meh. Alex, Zander, Anders, Sasha
William (Will) - prefer Liam

FreeNiki · 16/05/2017 01:29

Allegra
Cressida
Juniper

And I know an Antigone. She was of Greek origin and it is a Greek name. Tragic play too.

Antigone had a sister, Ismene, her grandmother was Jocasta.

Ooh actually I like Jocasta if I ever have a girl.

Love Alexander from your boys names.

FreeNiki · 16/05/2017 01:32

Jocasta means shining moon Shock

Also if Adrianna is a bit long how about the Latin name, Adria.

user1471547428 · 16/05/2017 14:42

Ria would be a nice nickname for Adrianna.
