I know two aged 6, in the same class at school, both pronounced Ev-uh-lin, neither shortened to Eve.

My granny was called Evelyn.

They pronounced it Ev lyn

It is a gorgeous name but definitely quite popular, all variants of Evie are. Lovely though.

One of my DDs is Evelyn (Ev-eh-lin) and we call her Evie interchangeably with her longer name.

The author Waugh was Eev-lin; his first wife was Ev-lyn. That must have been confusing.
