Emma is a lovely, classy, classic name. It's not boring and it's a million times better than any of the current faddy cutesy names that will date really quickly/badly (and that might be great for a 6 week old but aren't so great when they're 16/26/36 etc.).

I'm not called Emma by the way so no vested interest!

MitzyLeFrouf · 21/01/2016 15:13

It is a bit boring to be fair.

Ilovegummibaers · 21/01/2016 15:15

I like Emma and Jenna

ledgeoffseason · 21/01/2016 17:54

Ooh this is quite a snobby thread! I like Jemma, know a couple of quite posh Gemmas too, and it doesn't seem to have held Jemma, Marchioness of Douro, nee Kidd, back in life. I think it's quite refreshing after so many Lilies and Ellas and Roses, pretty though they are.

CormoranStrike · 21/01/2016 18:21

Emma is a classic, but a bit dull.

Have you thought of Jenna?

KoalaDownUnder · 23/01/2016 13:51

Emma is very dull. See also Sarah. Just way, way overused.

I'd go for Jemma/Gemma (if pushed).

iciclewinter · 23/01/2016 14:29

I don't know of any young Sarahs or Emmas, so either would be quite a refreshing and unusual name for the younger generation IMHO.

GeraldineFangedVagine · 23/01/2016 14:43

I'm an Emma and from the 80s and I went to school with loads of Emma's and Gemma's. Obviously I'd pick Emma out of solidarity but I really wanted to be a Jade. Hope that's helped.

Madbengalmum · 23/01/2016 14:46

Emma

LeonoraFlorence · 24/01/2016 20:46

I prefer Emma :)

SouthernShepherdess · 25/01/2016 02:15

I think I prefer Emma, but it's funny what people consider to be "chav". Jemma Kidd, Jemma Redgrave etc..are they chavs?!

MangosteenSoda · 25/01/2016 02:48

Another shout out for Jemma / Gemma.

Never met a Jemma, but Kidd and Redgrave spring to mind. Gemma was the name of Dante's wife. I'm sure she wasn't common Grin
