Laurianna...would you call your daughter this?

Do you know anyone called Laurianna or Lauriana?

Would you use this name? Is it too 'out there'? I think it's beautiful with the nickname of Laurie.

I'm just throwing it to the MN jury. I'm curious about opinions Smile

I would use it with one n not two. Two makes it seem a bit like two names stuck together somehow.

ScarlettDarling · 20/12/2015 20:39

No, I think it's awful, sorry. It doesn't sound like a 'real' name.

Why not just Laurie?

rainydaygrey · 20/12/2015 20:41

Agree Lauriana with 1 'n'. I would probably think it was pronounced "Lauriarna" (non-rhotive r).

Not Laurianna, sorry. I agree with eastwest that it doesn't work.

timelytess · 20/12/2015 20:42

Certainly not. I don't know a 'Laurianna' and would not call a daughter by that name. Nicknames are entirely superfluous if you give a child a proper name.

'Anna' would be fine. 'Laurel', 'Lauren' or even 'Lorraine'. But not Laurianna.

A girl in our school was called Lorana. Suited her.

Peppapigallowsmetoshower · 20/12/2015 20:49

Oooft...fair play! I asked! Smile

Yes I like Laurie. And I agree about -ana vs -anna. I just wondered if it was a name anyone had ever come across in RL.

DickDewy · 20/12/2015 20:51

No it sounds made up.

rainydaygrey · 20/12/2015 20:54

Not come across it in real life, no. Lorena, Adriana, Celestina, Marianna, yes.

It rhymes with Pollyanna which is a negative IMO.

I do agree with a PP that we can't all have common names. Go with what YOU like.

TangledUpInGin · 20/12/2015 20:56

I quite like it - it sounds nice when you say it out loud Smile

ImperialBlether · 20/12/2015 20:58

It's a made up name, isn't it? Can you imagine how many times she'll have to spell it out and explain it to people?

Even if I had 10 DDS it woudnt even make my short list but that's because in my opinion there are more appealing names but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as its being made out to be,

Sophronia · 20/12/2015 22:50

I'd prefer one of these...

Loredana
Laura
Laurentine
Laurentina
Lorena
Laurentia
Lorinda
Loretta

Sophronia · 20/12/2015 22:51

Or Lorelei

Wolfiefan · 20/12/2015 22:53

Sounds made up. Sorry.

MitzyLeFrouf · 20/12/2015 23:07

Sounds like the name of a country and western singer.

There are nicer names that start with Laur..

CandlesAreBurning · 20/12/2015 23:07

Agree with the one n, and possibly spelt loriana. So what if it sounds made up. Pamela was once a made up name for a play, now its a real name.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 21/12/2015 01:33

No.

It's bloody awful. Don't invent names for real. Please.

Artsmanouvre · 21/12/2015 06:30

Loriana is my preferred spelling and if I met a baby with that name I'd think how lovely!

But here I have Evie, Isabel name fatigue

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 21/12/2015 06:41

Why not name her Laurie Anna (ie Anna as middle name) if you're going to use Laurie? That way you get to use the whole thing on high days and holidays if you like, but no one can accuse you of making a name up!

Pipistrella · 21/12/2015 07:05

It's quite nice actually, but I don't really get on with the name 'Laurie' to begin with as to me it's just a bit too much like lorry. (apologies!)

Kraggle · 21/12/2015 07:15

Depends, Laurianna I would say it as if it was the two names, Lauriana I would say Lor-ee-ahh-na which is the way I prefer. I think it's pretty.

AppleSetsSail · 21/12/2015 07:20

No.

But here I have Evie, Isabel name fatigue

Me too.

villainousbroodmare · 21/12/2015 07:22

Laurie Anna is the perfect solution imo.
