Laquila · 12/11/2015 11:26

I love (but cannot use, for various reasons):

Gabriel
Rowan
Roman
Laurence/Laurie

I like, but not quite enough to use:

Alexander

I think I like, but am dithering over:

Jasper
Barnaby
Kester (nn Kit)
Gwilym
Auden

Help!! Any other suggestions?

I wanted Lawrence, but DH didnt like it. We went for Travis in the end.

DD has an unusual but not wacky name and I wanted the same for DS.

tammytoby · 13/11/2015 14:20

Some lovely names on here. I really like
Roman
Auden
Quentin
Raphael

Or how about Tristan?

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/11/2015 14:29

Tenniel

Hallam

(they have the same vibe as Auden)

CakeRattleandRoll · 13/11/2015 15:38

Really like Kester/Kit.

I would definitely think of Auden as a boy's name - there is the poet association, but also it just doesn't 'look like' a girl's name to me. I like Augustin, mostly because nn Augie is great.

How about:
Orson
Silas
Jarvis
Osian

MyFavouriteClintonisGeorge · 13/11/2015 15:52

I know an Ulric. Now that's a fantastic name! Unusual but not too poncey, plus easy to say and spell.

Auden=boy, to me. I like Gwilym very much too.

Bruno
Idris
Asher
Cahal
Caryl
Nicol

Laquila · 13/11/2015 20:42

I love Bruno! Husband isn't so keen but I might try and work on that. He keeps going back to Cassian, which I do like. Could we use Kit as a nn?...bit tenuous...

I also like Tenniel but don't think it sounds great with Nathaniel. Tristan doesn't do it for me - thank you though! All suggestions appreciated.

You can use anything as a nickname. Needs no relevance to the actual name!

Matthias, Gregory? I have lost track of this thread so apologies if these have been suggested.

BikeRunSki · 13/11/2015 20:46

Evan
Amos
Peter

IoraRua · 13/11/2015 20:48

Also Lucian

Laquila · 13/11/2015 21:26

I do like Matthias and used to like Evan bit have gone off that a bit. Lucian is lovely. So most people pronounce it as Loo-shian rather than Loo-seeyan?

BikeRunSki · 13/11/2015 21:41

Matteo
Ambrose
Edwin
Edgar
Drystan

Laquila · 13/11/2015 21:44

Ambrose and Edwin are great but husband not keen. Thanks for all the suggestions though everyone - I appreciate you not losing heart when I dismiss the vast majority of them!!

Eben
Niall
Alec
Chas
Louis
Nico
Pablo
Stephan
Emrys
Anthony
Roderick

MsJuniper · 14/11/2015 23:37

Ooh, nice names!

I have one of your 'not possibles' and Kester is my favourite for a second, but DH won't have it. We also like Douglas and Clement (although think the latter of those might be a bit much). If we were Welsh I'd love Aneurin.

Laquila · 15/11/2015 07:38

Thanks MrsJ! I'm still keen on Kester nn Kit. Clement has been off and on the list but not keen on Clem. BikeRunSki I do like Nico and Emrys, thank you.

BathshebaDarkstone · 15/11/2015 07:41

Wayland
Wulf
Reuel

Diddlydokey · 15/11/2015 07:48

Quinn
Micah

Reuben is really popular round here at the moment

Diddlydokey · 15/11/2015 07:49

I love kit but kester makes me think of fester

BathshebaDarkstone · 15/11/2015 08:53

I know an adult Geraint, known as Ger. I didn't think they had soft g's in Welsh. He pronounces it with a hard g.

Quodlibet · 15/11/2015 21:34

Jowan?
Leonard?

ICantSpellNoffink · 15/11/2015 21:48

I think Kit is a good name on its own and not as a NN

I like lots of the names on here but I think a lot of the are quite trendy and common.

Leander
Leollan
Jasper
Lex

CoralieConfused · 15/11/2015 21:56

Oo, I actually love Micah!

Vedamakesthebesttoast · 15/11/2015 22:12

cillian?

Re corin, too close to corinne which is a girls name to me...

Orin, on the other hand I love and was on my short list

Both my lbs' names are on your original list btw ;)

Vedamakesthebesttoast · 15/11/2015 22:14

Hugh?

Rhymes with our surname so was t allowed to use it by hubster, but love it, think hughie is adorable for a little boy till he grows into Hugh

Laquila · 15/11/2015 22:32

I do like Hugh actually! Hughie is sweet. You obvs have excellent taste in names Veda ;)
