It's a girl!!! Come and help with my list?

I'm twenty weeks with my second and found out yesterday we're having a girl!! We already have a DS and struggled so much with boy names (we went into hospital with a shortlist and ended up with Franklin, which wasn't even on the long list) we thought we'd have an easier time with a girl. But even though we like a lot of the same names we have very different favourites and I think we'll struggle to agree on the one.

So, here are both of our lists combined (for fairness) and not in order of preference, comments and further suggestions very welcome!

Franklin and Violet are the best set in my opinion. I adore Violet.

Actively dislike Cadence, Lucille and Lydia but the rest are nice.

Margot - yes, like
Cecilia - ceciiiiilia, you're breaking my heart! You're shaking my confidence dailyyyy - if you can deal with a lifetime of that reaction, go for it
Cadence - meh
Lucille - no
Sylvie - ok but rising in popularity
Delilah - why why whyyyyyy - see Cecilia!
Violet - love it, but again popular
Lydia - love it, not too popular, Choose this one!

Violet or Lucille.

Cadence is dreadful - only heard it on Toddlers and Tiaras

I really like Delilah and I like Cadence . It reminds me of music theory but I love Cadie as a nn.

In orderof preference violet, sylvie, delilah margot, oh snd Lydia. I don't like the others. I'd be wary of using Delilah for biblical reasons.

What about Lucinda?

I like Sylvie (prefer Sylvia), Lydia and Margot in that order.

I don't like Cadence much either Belinda, that's one of dh's. I think it's too American.

Have loved Violet for a long time but it is getting popular, and we have a really boring surname. I heard Margot is also shooting up in popularity.

I also love Cecilia but dh not keen, I don't think her peers will have heard the song but might be wrong about that.

Cadence - no, bit pretentious ..

Lucille - quite pretty but might spend her life going 'no not Lucy..'

I'm naming my daughter Lydia

I absolutely love it, it's a very independent and strong name, not too popular etc. Ticks all the right boxes in my books.

Audrey/Audra very much in the same vein too.

Either Cecilia or Violet would go well with Franklin, and both are lovely names.

The others are also all quite nice, except Cadence (which is dreadful IMO!)

Sylvie or Lydia for me

Violet- I like it but its sooooooo popular there's 2 in dd's preschool class and we know a few others- Viola or Violette would be good alternatives maybe?

My favourite on the list is Sylvie, I prefer it to Sylvia myself, doesn't sound so old... I went to school with a Lydia, as soon as the kids went through sex education and learned about the various diseases, her name suddenly became "Lydia Chlamidia" and then later, most kids dropped the "Lydia" so her nn became (and got stuck as) Chlamidia... This was not done in malice, she wasn't an unpopular girl, but not a nice nn to be stuck with... Just something to think about xx

Love franklin, it's my DS's middle name so based on that I would like to suggest Sidney which is my DD'smiddle name

I actually do think Franklin and Sidney go really well together

Cadence really stands out as a sort of American, faddy type name in an otherwise classical list. I'd strike it from the list completely.

Lydia I have never liked. I don't know if it's the fact that I most associate it with the petulant Bennett from Pride and Prejudice. I don't like the sound of it though. It sounds like a medical condition in the same vein as chlamydia. Maybe that's it, it contains all the letters in order. It's probably just a weird personal reaction to it.

Margot, Cecelia and Sylvie are lovely.

My niece is a Delilah and she gets biblical whore references or people bawling Tom Jones.

Would you consider Josephine? I adore it and couldn't use it as we ended up with a DS and it didn't suit him.

Lydia and Violet are gorgeous. Your other names I'm very 'meh' about except Sylvie because she is a 60 year old school secretary

Cecilia is my favourite, very pretty, underused name.

I also like Margot, Lucille and Sylvie.
