If it weren't for the fact that it is a face cream.

And Harpic would be quite a good boys' name.

Are there any other products out there that have nabbed what could be perfectly acceptable names?

Colgate is a real name (remember the Gilmore Girls?) and unless you're Spanish, I think Mercedes isn't a great choice...

Arora - the hotel chain

Actually campanile - another hotel chain - sounds quite nice too

Tena. But middle name 'Penny' would have to be avoided.

Veet could be a cool name for either a girl or boy.

Syria would be a beautiful girl's name, I've always thought, were it not for the unfortunate associations with hideously war-torn country ...

Evian would be good for a girl.

I used to like Lux for a girl but apparently it's a popular brand of soap in America (and the Virgin Suicides connection is a bit off putting.)

I've always thought Lochia would be a beautiful name for a girl. Maybe with a sister Melaena.

CelestiaLuna · 19/10/2015 14:50

Toddler wanted to call baby girl Mayonaise. It's actually quite a nice sound really!

I always like Papillion for a girl, but aside from meaning butterfly in French, apparently it's also a breed of dog
