I really like it

DirtyMugPolice · 02/08/2015 06:49

I think of the dinosaur from toy story - I don't dislike the name but it's not for me.

backtowork2015 · 02/08/2015 20:13

I don't think dog. its ok. I prefer rhett as a similar name

starkers1 · 03/08/2015 09:30

These stupid stupid, ignorant idiotic references to dogs/puppies just show how basic the posters in question are. Honestly- have you ever in reality met a dog called Rex? I haven’t. I’ve me plenty of Molly's, Lucy, Daisy's, Theos, but do people say that’s a "dogs name" just because by sheer coincidence, 1 dog has been called that name too??

People commenting on it being an animals name are also the people who love dull run of the mill, don’t rock the boat, play it safe names- OP- are you like this? If not, don’t consider their very backward opinions. It’s a s far from chavy either?? Sounds pretty posh (in that nice vintage way) but creative to me.

1 of my best friends has a little 2 year old Rex. He is Mr Sunshine, energy, sparky, handsome, cool and totally fabulous and absolutely fits his name. She had an outpouring of love on FB for the name too which she was very chuffed by too. Dare to be different please.

BubGal13 · 03/08/2015 09:36

Exactly what Starkers and
smokedgarlic said-

It's wonderful. Seriously it's cool and strong without being too try hard and it's underused. Completely ignore those who say it is a dog's name . I have a daughter with a so called cat's name.. Fuck em it suits her to a tee.

How is this classic but cool, strong, masculine, name "try hard" or "chavvy" in any way when it dates back so far back? I think of a (very handsome, warm, fun): artist, actor, sportsman, and yes business man too. It cute on a boy and strong but memorable on a man. Adore it. People are so scared to be different so they get very silly when someone else is, as deep down they regret going for another Thomas...John... that will just blend into all the other 100000s of them.

reuset · 03/08/2015 13:48

You know what they say about people who lower themselves to use the term 'chavvy' don't you, pressescape Wink

It was a popular name for dogs, is key here, and as a pp said, the most popular dog names nowadays are likely to be very similar to most popular children's names. It's hardly Fido now is it.

woody17 · 05/08/2015 07:54

Thank you for all the honest feedback! It's definitely a name that's going to divide opinion if we end up going with it.

I like it a lot.

MadMum2015 · 05/08/2015 08:11

I like it, unusual but not out there. Would never consider it "chavvy", the one Rex I know would definitely not fit that description. As to the dog thing, it was deffo a boys' name first. Not exactly Rover or Fido. Confused

getbusyliving · 05/08/2015 10:23

Perfectly good name, it brings to mind Rex Harrison and that very posh one on BB

I think you're ahead of the trend on this one so go for it while it's still fresh Grin

Doublebubblebubble · 06/08/2015 13:00

I like it ????

Flingmoo · 06/08/2015 13:03

I like Rex

sanfairyanne · 06/08/2015 13:18

we will have reached 'peak dogs names for boys' when mn has a 'fido - yes or no' in the baby names threads

CrystalMcPistol · 06/08/2015 13:23

But there have been many, many people called Rex over the years. It's hardly that unusual name for a person.

JanuaryJuniper · 06/08/2015 14:38

Absolutely adore it, it's simple yet cool!
