I know a Cordelia. I also went to school with a Genevieve, a Clara and a Penelope, back in the early 80's, in London.

My niece is called Sylvia (sylvie) really suits her she's adorable.

Romilly is our girls' name and it makes me when MNers say it is getting popular. According to the ONS something like 45 girls in E&W were called Romilly last year. A virtual avalanche of Romillys!!!

I have seen people on here singing the praises of names like Gladys, Elsie and Evelyn.
I don't know anyone in RL who likes those names.

I heard a Mum shout Barnaby, where's Cornelious? I said to DH she's probably a MNetter!

Both Elsie and Evelyn are statistically pretty popular and rank within the Top 50 - around 1200 of each in 2013. Only 6 babies called Gladys though!

Can someone tell me how to pronounce Plotomy? Obviously I'm not educated enough

It's spelt Ptolomy swimmer and the P is silent so is pronounced "Tol-em-ee".
