Sister to go with Tabitha

thamesk8 · 11/05/2015 10:45

Hi All
Due this week!

I have boys names sorted. I have a DD called Tabitha but rarely gets called Tabitha- usually Tatty!

Please help. We are going round in circles. We are definitely fans of fuller birth certificate name with funky, more unusual nicknames.

Indigo nn Indie - Love Indie with Tatty. This is our fav but not so sure of Indigo as Tabitha's sister. Too different name camps right? Will she wish she had a more traditional fn? Dislike Indira, Indiana & India. Also, how many Indie's do you know?

Hermione nn Mimi or Minnie - HP Gah!!!

Saskia nn Sassy or Kiki - I love both. DH not so much.

Bonnie - does it need a full name? My name OCD says it does.

Lilia - too many Lilys about, right! Think this might be a mn option as it's after a family member.

They are the front runners.
Other options have been...
Jemima, Xanthe, Willow, Clementine, Camilla, Cressida, Cordelia, Constance...

Grateful for help, opinions, thoughts!

Thanks

What do you mean by "name OCD"? Hmm

thamesk8 · 11/05/2015 10:54

I have funny little quirks and rules.
Like siblings not having the same style of name. I cannot stand siblings with the same initials. Liking a full name but not the nickname etc...

How about Beatrix?

QueefOfTheDamned · 11/05/2015 10:57

The only Indigo I know is known as Dingo. Sometimes nicknames don't go quite as you'd imagine...

That said, I quite like Indie and Tatty and have no idea what you mean about them being from 2 different naming camps.

Love Hermione but the HP connection put me off using it.

Love Saskia but hate Sassy, especially with Tatty. Sounds like you've tried very hard to contrive matching nicknames.

Lilia - just no.

Bonnie - same as Lilia.

Of your others, I love Xanthe but really dislike the others. Xanthe is difficult to shorten though, is it not? Zaza maybe?

Allthatnonsense · 11/05/2015 11:04

I think that Hermione and Jemima work well.

Mummybear8 · 11/05/2015 11:10

I instantly thought of Beatrix/Beatrice! (It's the Jemima and Tabitha connection that reminded me of Beatrix Potter) I think there's lots of opportunity for nicknames; Bea, Trixie etc.
Clementine is my favourite from your list. Evangeline is an equally beautiful and feminine name but Eva/Evie is so popular now it might not be worth the risk. I love your name style by the way!

Rhubarbgarden · 11/05/2015 11:12

I like Willow the most out of that lot. I know a very cool Cressida nicknamed Cress - I think that's lovely.

InfiniteJest · 11/05/2015 11:13

I know a Bonnie who is short for Bonita, if you need a full name.

Of the ones you mention I like Xanthe the most (shortened to Xan?)

Some other suggestions:

Cosette (Etta)
Rowena (Rowie)
Esther (Essie)
Marlena (Marlie)

But, if you love Indigo, then I think you should choose that! I don't think it sounds wrong next to Tabitha, and I don't know any Indies.

CarriMarie · 11/05/2015 11:56

Jemima, Imogen or Saskia.

Lunastarfish · 11/05/2015 11:58

I was going to suggest Hermione and I love Jemima.

How about Louisa (Lulu)

thamesk8 · 11/05/2015 12:57

Wow. Thanks all! So much food for thought. Xx

BlueChampagne · 11/05/2015 16:20

Eloise could also be Lulu if you like that.

Vashti
Loveday
Kerenza/Carenza
Meredith
Rhiannon
Francesca
Belinda

BlueChampagne · 11/05/2015 16:21

Juliet

trinitybleu · 11/05/2015 16:26

I have a Tabitha.

We also liked Hermione and Willow from your list - both would go great. (Our Tabitha is actually a massive HP fan and insists on being called Hermione a lot of the time!)

Other names on our list were Meredith or Merryn nn Merry, Imogen and Rowena / Rowan.

ditavonteesed · 11/05/2015 16:28

I also have a tabitha, her sister is called genevieve. Tabitha is Tabi and Genevevieve is Genie. I think you definatly need a long name. All the ones mentioned are pretty.

reuset · 11/05/2015 16:38

Same here, purpledaisies. Name OCD indeed! Surprised you haven't been flamed for that, anywhere else, other than names section, you would have been.

StampyShortnose · 11/05/2015 16:49

Verity
Myla
Felicity
Jessamy

GREYCROW · 11/05/2015 17:39

Also have a Tabitha here. Meredith, Genevieve, Posy and Clementine were all candidates (how funny similar to others!) I know which I would use if I were to ever have another girl.

Marcipex · 11/05/2015 18:48

Sorry but Bonnie is awful.
Lilia-brand of sanitary protection. A nursery parent announced she had named the new baby Lilia and a great shout of laughter went up as soon as she left.

Indie is nice, why not just use it if you like it? Could be short for Cindy or Lindy.

MediumOrchid · 11/05/2015 18:55

Yes - as suggested above, Esther nn Essie. Both names are biblical so go well together.

MagentaVitus · 11/05/2015 19:14

I like India much more than Indigo.

LorryHen · 11/05/2015 19:18

Argh, please stop using OCD as an adjective.

It is not a synonym for being anally retentive or having little quirks....

306235388 · 11/05/2015 19:20

Henrietta
Harriet
Meredith

lavenderhoney · 11/05/2015 19:29

Emerald if she has green eyes
Sapphire if she has blue eyes
not sure for brown, crystal?

Sorry none are on your list:) I just thought emerald and tabitha sounded nice together:)

Sophronia · 11/05/2015 19:57

I know a Bonnie whose full name is Bonnita.

I like Tabitha and Jemima together. Tabitha and Saskia also go very well.
