Diana Grin

Thora is a name I'd love to bring back - it will always be associated with Thora Hird but when you consider its the female version of Thor, it is pretty cool. I know a Thurston as well.

FadedRed123 · 02/05/2015 18:40

Elektra, Cassiopeia, Cassandra, Phaedra, Helena, Venus, Circe, Penelope.
When I was training some years ago a new mum told the midwives she was going to call her new son Thor - they said people would think he had a lisp.....Grin

RiaOverTheRainbow · 02/05/2015 18:44

Freya
Artemis
Astrid
Venus

Why names from all three cultures? They have very different sounds and feel no?

mrscatmad31 · 02/05/2015 19:34

They do but they seem to be the sort of names I gravitate to, want something different that means something

Penelope
Ariadne
Juno
Helen(a)
Calliope
Callista
Rhea
Selene

Boys are much harder! Loki is becoming more popular and a lot of the other names I can think of would sound quite pretentious or wacky to my ear?

RumAppleGinger · 02/05/2015 22:40

DS2's middle name is Atticus which I love and would have happily used as his first name.

OverAndAbove · 02/05/2015 22:46

Flora is good. I also love Juno and Hera

mrscatmad31 · 03/05/2015 06:15

I like Atticus Grin

Mother in law likes Astrid, it's pretty

hestialou · 04/05/2015 07:27

My only issue with gods names is if they don't live up to them, hestia is domestic goddess, but what if dd cant cook?

anorakgirl · 04/05/2015 07:32

Was just thinking that Hestialou, Hera was a right cow!

nailsathome · 04/05/2015 07:36

We're going with Loki Grin

Bombinate · 04/05/2015 07:39

Orion
Icarus
Sirius

mrscatmad31 · 04/05/2015 09:08

I like Orion :-) Sirius is good but I have a Cirrus (pet!) and think it's too similar
Doesn't bother me if he/she doesn't live up to the name

florascotia · 04/05/2015 10:45

Loki was foul - in lots of ways. He wasn't some fun trickster. Suggest anyone thinking of the name reads all the relevant myths.

nailsathome · 04/05/2015 11:38

We have read them, still love the name though.

nailsathome · 04/05/2015 11:39

We particularly enjoyed the one about him tying a goat to his testicles.

mrscatmad31 · 04/05/2015 13:40

The history behind Minerva isn't all that pretty but would still use it Grin

FishCanFly · 04/05/2015 14:27

I love Thor, Zeus, Hades, Hermes, Gaia, Athena

kelda · 04/05/2015 14:31

I know a Thor and Eros, much prefer Thor!

What about Goram, an old english folklore name.
