sunny? Teddy? Blubelle? Fred? Louie? help?!

I'm new to mumsnet so please be kind! I already have a Lola (not chavvy thank you very much!!) and a Bonnie. We like cool names that are different but not daft, Sunny, Blubelle, Teddy for a girl Fred, Ted, Louie for a girl. We have an awkward one syllable P surname, open to suggestions, sorry if this has posted twice, i'm not sure why first message didn't appear!

Fred, Ted or Louie are our boys names (sorry)

I know of a Bluebell, very cool!

Are you going to spell Bluebell properly? If so, it is very nice and unusual enough without a different spelling. If you spell it Blubelle it looks like Blub Elle!!

I like your boys name. Bluebelle is nice or bluebell, not blubelle. Not sure about sunny and I prefer Theodora (love this) nn teddy. How about Arianna, Joy, Orla, Heidi, Rosie , ester, Shona, maja, penny, Tilly, candy/Candice.

Bluebell is lovely but please don't make up a spelling she'll spend a lifetime having to spell it out and apologising for you.

Teddy for a girl I also really like which surprises me!

Fred for a boy is nice not keen on the others.

Oh and since when is Lola chavvy? I have a Lola niece and SIL is a very mc GP!

Sorry, but I think all of the girls' names you suggest are really insubstantial sounding.

The boys' names are OK, but Louis is the correct spelling.

Bluebell= blue balls

No bluebell = well bluebell as in erm the flower, you know the ones that tends to grow in woods and look pretty in paintings.

Where on earth did you get that it would equal blue balls especially as its erm a girls name.

If you prefer the Elle ending bluebelle, rather than blubelle would be better.

Blubelle looks really odd to me, and to be honest so does Bluebelle, I think if you are going to call your child after a flower it's best to spell it like the flower, if nothing else to avoid always having to spell it out/ correct people/ have it spelled wrong.

My cat is called Sunny! I think it makes a better nickname than given name, for children with sunny dispositions, or little boys (I called ds sonny-boy for years until he grew out of it as a teenager).

So I think Teddy is your best girls name. Personally I'd have a longer given name, but that might not be your style. I haven't heard Bonnie used for a long time, I have a good friend called Bonnie, I think it's a cool name. However I'd not have a Bonnie and a Bluebell, to me that seems a bit matchy, and I like all my children to have different initials.

Your boys names are much more mainstream! All fine, although I'd spell Louie Louis.

If you take the 'e' out, it looks as if you want 'blub-elle' as the pronunciation. Do you?

Sunny isn't really a name: Sonny perhaps, though rather nn to me. They are the same out loud, and the boys name is far better known. Is that the effect you're after?

Teddy is a type of underwear, nn perhaps, but I really wouldn't as standalone. Theodora? Edwina? Ruperta?

Fred and Ted are OK (though again I see them as nns, and for both a bit insubstantial).

Louie is OK, but like pp, I think Louis is far better.

I see all the boys names as pretty ordinary.

point taken with bluebell, i hadn't thought that one through, I like Sunny because both my girls are blonde haired blue eyed pretty little girls (tad biased i know) and both would suit the name, this baby is due in summer and it feels right, i prefer teddy for a girl rather than a boy but i;m not a theodora, edwina kind of mum and oh would hate them, i like nn sounding names i also quite like Delilah, but went to a wedding recently where everyone sang it after a few too many and it put me off. Middle names I like joy, Lou,wren, Rowan, Bluebell (if not used for first name) I've already used Rae for Lola and Rosa for Bonnie.....
Boys names...the reasoning behind Louie rather than Louis is that oh is Lewis and I'm Lucie so i feel it's a blend of both names but......Lewis, Lucie, Lola and Bonnie.......bit much??
Fred was oh grandad and Ted i just like although i agree boys names all all very ordinary but I think you can be a bit more creative with girls names??

I had heard of a Harbor which i really like, Jax is growing on me, but feel like it would need explaining, my father in law thought we meant jaques....(unsure of spellings but french) Middle name Ralph (my grandad) but excited to hear your suggestions :)

I had seen on a few other threads that a few on here, (quite a few) thought Lola was super chavvy! How rude! Or that it reminded them of a transgender from the kinks song or a stripper! I still love it and it really suits my little girl :)

Baby Louie with dad Lewis and mum Lucie is way too much I think. Almost tongue twister territory, and that's without adding Lola into the mix Plus it makes Bonnie stand out a bit too, four 'L's and one 'B'!

Louie is a great name, but also a bit of a mouthful with Lola.

Not so keen on your girls names but I like your boy names.

Daisy would fit with your daughters names though?

i know loads of daisys....i like names that aren't too common, i think daisy is a bit farmyard no?

Daisy is way more cow than bluebell!

How about Lila/Lilah?

Louis is my favourite name for boys, but only this spelling.

I like Rowan best for first name to go with your girls' names

What about summer?

Just to say I have a freddie (one yr old) and it is so so common, I'm forever meeting other little freds and freddies! I love the name so doesn't bother me, but just bear that in mind if you wanted something more unusual
