I'm new to mumsnet so please be kind! I already have a Lola (not chavvy thank you very much!!) and a Bonnie. We like cool names that are different but not daft, Sunny, Blubelle, Teddy for a girl Fred, Ted, Louie for a girl. We have an awkward one syllable P surname, open to suggestions, sorry if this has posted twice, i'm not sure why first message didn't appear!

Stanley?

Vijac · 30/04/2015 15:37

I love bonnie and Lola btw. I think Louie I fine, most of the time he'll be know by himself, at school, work etc, not always as a family. So doesn't matter that they're similar. Maybe sunny is nice for a summer born blondie. Make sure the middle name is a bit more staid in case she wants to change, so not sunny bluebell say. What about Nancy or Iona. Or Sol / Solly for a boy (Latin for sun).

SunnyBaudelaire · 30/04/2015 15:40

please do not call your daughter Bluebell or Sunny nobody will ever take her seriously.

IvoryMadonna · 30/04/2015 15:58

What if you call her Sunny and she turns out to be a surly introverted type? With names like this, there's a risk that they will be embarrassingly inappropriate.

Choccyhobnob · 30/04/2015 16:38

I prefer Sunshine to Sunny as a girl's name. Yes it's a bit out there I know but I quite like it! A very MC friend of mine gave her daughter the middle name Sunshine last year (first name really normal top 10) and although everyone raised their eyes at it at first it has really grown on everyone!

Summer is another one that is quite commonly used where i live, Lilah is too similar to lola...

Reeva? Perhaps too synonymous with Ms Steenkamp but I think it's a lovely name.

Stace27 · 30/04/2015 20:14

I have a son called Loui he's nearly 8 and still gets comments on his cool name. So for obvious reasons it's my Fave :-)
I chose to spell it this way as I didn't want him to be called Lewis ??

lullabelle85 · 30/04/2015 20:39

i get that my name choices are not going to be everyones cup of tea but we really like them, i think we grow into our names and i know a few children who, when they were named i couldn't imagine the names suiting them but now i can't imagine them being called anything else, i wouldn't use an ordinary boring name just incase i have a shy child :)
I agree unusual first names need simpler middle names :)
thankyou for all the (nice) comments really appreciate it, and for anyone who doesn't like my name choices, thats ok, i just won't listen ;)

Don't have all L names in the family except poor Bonnie!

Fred and Ted both ok.

What else might you like, hmm.
Billy? Nico?

I like Bluebell if you spell it like that. It's cute.
Sunny and Teddy are ok too.
What about Hettie / Hetty?

lullabelle85 · 30/04/2015 21:28

i am worried she would feel left out! think i need more boys names...

I love Ted and Sunny.
Also prefer the nn type names, I love Emmy and Jude for girls.
I don't think nic names are popular on mn but I also love Sonny for boy too.

burgatroyd · 01/05/2015 05:16

Sunny short for Sunniva? Its Norwegian and means Sungift.

To the poster who asked wehat if the name doesnt suit thge child? A surly summer for example. My eldest has one of the type of hippy happy names. Think power puff girl. She really is sensible and serious though and doesn't 'suit' her name. Which kind of makes it cool on her.

I met a woman in her twenties with the same name. She ran a music label and was really grungy. She didn't suit this name either! However it seemed to add a kind of weird glamour to it. This woman loved her name and how incongruous it was to her personality.

Like Bluebell. What about

Misty

India

Honey

Hero

Blossom

Flame

SkodaLabia · 02/05/2015 15:14

lullabelle85 · 03/05/2015 08:38

lullabelle85 · 12/05/2015 10:36

we are having a girl! at the moment she's Sunny Violet only thing worrying me is the thought of people shortening hr name, do you think that will happen??

getbusyliving · 12/05/2015 14:18

Sunny is quite sweet but Sunny Violet sounds a bit like a paint colour ??

Rhubarbgarden · 14/05/2015 07:22
