I really like Axl (spelt that way, for some reason)
Honest opinions?
I'm not sure I can imagine calling a baby Axl but I do love it, especially with our surname as it sounds very rock and roll.

Be kind but honest :p
If we have a girl she will be Tabitha.

i expected mixed reviews - the only reason I said anything to soup dragon was because it felt a bit personal. As in - if you have a boy I feel sorry for them.

Anyway, it really doesn't matter, thanks for all your comments :)

Hehe, DH is on board with it :)

Guess on Monday we will know whether we need to decide on a boys name or not.

I've always thought it an odd name (Scandinavia apart). It just makes me think of car parts.

Also it's quite a popular name for dogs round our way, for some reason.

CaptainFabulous · 07/04/2015 20:31

Scots, because it sounds stupid.

lemonyone · 07/04/2015 20:36

I love the name Tabitha. Was on my list.

Do you really want honest opinions? Because I think the name Axl has rather icky feel to me, because of the whole oral sex thing and Axl Rose looks a bit of a car crash now.
Axel is better, even though now I have the theme tune to Beverly Hills Cop in my brain now. Whoo whoo - electronica music madness.

Treaclepie19 · 07/04/2015 20:41

Tabitha is a definite :)

I do want honest opinions, I don't want a baby to be teased all their life.
We're thinking maybe Rupert... We're very lost!

lemonyone · 07/04/2015 20:43

Eeep! I love Rupert too!

Had I decided to have another DC I would have had a Rupert.

lemonyone · 07/04/2015 20:45

Funny though - I'd put Rupert and Axl at the opposite ends of the scale for namings! Grin

I'm sure that whatever you decide, he will become that name. My best friend has 4 DCs with barking mad names and after about a week you go "oh yes, he's called Stone, so be it".

Treaclepie19 · 07/04/2015 20:45

:) Rupert is a good one for all ages too isn't it?

OP posts:
Treaclepie19 · 07/04/2015 20:46

Haha they are at different ends. We like a whole variety of names. That's the problem :p

OP posts:
lemonyone · 07/04/2015 20:47

I'd say so. I'm sure others may not be as keen, but I think it's a fantastic name.
And there is always the glory of Rupert Penry-Jones...

littleflick · 07/04/2015 20:48

Axl is truly awful. Cringing at parents thinking of a "rock n roll" name.

squoosh · 07/04/2015 21:10

Pretty common in Sweden/Denmark name I believe. If you're not in Scandinavia though it does sound a bit odd.

There's a small Axel in my family. Everyone under 40 thought of Axl Rose and everyone over 60 thought of some singing priest (I think) whose names was Aksel.

ScotsWhaHae · 07/04/2015 21:11

What about the 40 to 60 year olds? What did they think? This could be crucial....

Treaclepie19 · 07/04/2015 21:14

I never said we were thinking of a rock n roll name, I said it sounded very rock n roll with our surname.

So, sounds like I need to go to Scandinavia then! :p

Erm ....hope you have a girl Tabitha is a beautiful name

squoosh · 07/04/2015 21:16

Axel Foley of course!

Axl
ScotsWhaHae · 07/04/2015 21:17

Phew! Glad you cleared that up!

TheCowThatLaughs · 07/04/2015 21:19

Please if you use it, spell it Axel
Tabitha is nice though!

Treaclepie19 · 07/04/2015 21:23

Enough with the "I hope you have a girl". I wouldn't dream of saying that to someone.

I think Tabitha is becoming more popular.

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 07/04/2015 21:25

I wouldn't normally ....
but your boy choice ....Confused

Although Rupert is ok

ScotsWhaHae · 07/04/2015 21:25

Treacle there's a lot of tits about who think anything other Jack and Jane is radical and the poor child will never amount to anything.

Treaclepie19 · 07/04/2015 21:34

That's very true Scots!
To me, Jack is the worst thing I could name my child as I know so many. Plus being a teacher, I know how hard it is for them having 3 others in the class.

I don't mind honesty about the name but not when it's personal.
Our list contains about 20 names, many that are higher up than Axl. I just wondered what people thought of it.

Hey ho, it is a good job we're all different :)

OP posts:
Treaclepie19 · 07/04/2015 21:41

Note - I should add that sa slight exaggeration as my best friends son is called Jack and I'm used to it for him.
That's the problem with names when they're not attached to anyone. They're very easy to judge.
