Honest opinions needed.

She has a brother zach and a 3 syllable surname.

I don't know the sex but we seem to have a good few boys names we can agree on.

Lovely name. Will be shortened to Maddy.

I like it.

Fairylea · 23/03/2015 22:52

I'm going to be honest and I just think of the McCanns.

judypoops · 23/03/2015 22:53

I thought of cake

Fairylea · 23/03/2015 22:53

I've asked for my comment to be deleted. I'm so sorry. I read the thread wrong. Super embarrassed.

Word association says 'McCann'

HirplesWithHaggis · 23/03/2015 22:55

Had I had a daughter, she would have been named Madeleine Elizabeth, the Madeleine part coming from a very lovely woman with whom I shared a flat in my youth. But that was pre-McCann. Confused

Wolfiefan · 23/03/2015 22:55

I agree with towers.

NotAnotherPackedLunchBox · 23/03/2015 22:55

BagpussGrin

CinnabarRed · 23/03/2015 22:56

Yup, McCann for me too.

nousernamesleft · 23/03/2015 22:57

Little French girl who has a tendency to fall in rivers.
Sorry.

ClearlyMoo · 23/03/2015 22:58

The little girl with the appendix scar looking at the crack on the ceiling. Did not think of McCann's at all.

sunnyawry · 23/03/2015 22:58

Fairylea don't apologise that was exactly the reaction I was anticipating. Word association that's the phrase I was looking for. DH really wants Madeleine and it is indeed lovely but I just hear McCann McCann McCann and I'm not sure if I can get over that!

have never known a Madeleine called Maddy.
It's like saying all Andrews will be called Andy.
My aunt was a Madeleine with a one syllable maiden name and a two syllable married names, which were fine. I am a Madeleine with a four syllable surname and it is too much. Which is one of the reasons I don't use Madeleine.

OneTwoManyLots · 23/03/2015 22:59

Cake.

It's a lovely name.

meandjulio · 23/03/2015 23:00

I have a cousin with the name, i think it's beautiful and tbh think most of the French children's books.

RonaldMcDonald · 23/03/2015 23:02

McCann

dannydyerismydad · 23/03/2015 23:02

My auntie's best friend. A brilliant lady with a wicked sense of humour and a fondness for the gin.

DioneTheDiabolist · 23/03/2015 23:02

I think of cake.Blush. It's a lovely name OP.

CiderwithBuda · 23/03/2015 23:02

DH is Andy!

I know a few Madelines and they are all Maddy.

It's a lovely name.

The McCann association will pass.

KicktheBride · 23/03/2015 23:02

I thought of the movie also. Lovely name

Kampeki · 23/03/2015 23:05

I would think of the McCanns tbh, but I think it's a very pretty name. I like "Maddie" too.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/03/2015 23:06

I used to think McCann, but there are a few baby & toddler Maddy's around here now & the connection has pretty much stopped for me.

DD (3) has a very good friend at pre-school called Maddy, so I mainly just think of her.

And a lady I know of has just had a baby Madeleine - sister to Millicent & Matilda.

YonicScrewdriver · 23/03/2015 23:10

Cake.

ZenNudist · 23/03/2015 23:10

It's a lovely name if you don't mind the tragic namesake.

I think McCann too sorry.
