Thoughts on Tallulah

Is it a bit of a marmite name? Ok for a child but not an adult? DC1 has a slightly unusual (never met another one) but not whacky name, it's often a suggestion on these boards, so it's MN approved Smile

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Actually I have just re read the Tallaluh Bankhead bio and see she could be a bit of a feminist icon

squoosh · 21/03/2015 15:48

There was a St Tallulah. Surprising as it sounds like the most unsaintly name.

SunnyBaudelaire · 21/03/2015 15:55

really Squoosh? not according to google!

squoosh · 21/03/2015 16:01

She was Irish and her actual name was Tuilelaith. I think she's pretty obscure though.

SunnyBaudelaire · 21/03/2015 16:03

well well every day is a school day on mumsnet!

RL20 · 21/03/2015 17:40

I love the name Tallulah. It was on my list of girls names, (we're having a boy Smile). Can also be shortened to so many different things to. Good choice

AuntieStella · 21/03/2015 17:41

I knew about St Tallulah. I think it's a great name.

KaffeOgGulerodsKage · 21/03/2015 18:37

Tallulah! imagine offering that up for a confirmation name.

sweetpeame · 21/03/2015 19:13

I don't really like it. It's probably ok for a small girl but not great for an adult I don't think.

AWholeLottaNosy · 21/03/2015 19:19

Lol at pet rat name!

squoosh · 21/03/2015 19:21

Can you imagine Kaffe? Grin

The nuns would have had a conniption. It sounds so sinful.

shakemysilliesout · 21/03/2015 19:45

Dislike. Jodie foster ruined it for me.

Although I love cool runnings.

AGirlCalledBoB · 21/03/2015 19:47

I wouldn't use it myself because it's the name my mum called her cat!

But it is a nice name

Queazy · 21/03/2015 19:57

Really dislike it tbh - I find it a bit fussy.

marshmallowpies · 21/03/2015 20:01

I'm afraid I think 'stripper name' though I do love Bugsy Malone so can't dislike it totally.

My SIL once said it would have been her choice for a girls name if she ever had girls. Can't imagine what my parents would have made of a Tallulah in the family.

Sausages123 · 21/03/2015 20:04

I now just think of the child in 'junk food kids' and before then a stripper

pilates · 21/03/2015 22:26

Sorry, stripper

Quasilulu · 22/03/2015 00:13

I've always loved Tallulah Bankhead. She said to a priest at a wedding once "Darling I love the dress but your handbag's on fire."

charlyn · 22/03/2015 08:53

I think it sounds quite pretty but i just can't imagine an adult women called Tallulah.

MamaLazarou · 22/03/2015 10:09

Definitely a Marmite name, yes. I dislike it very strongly.

wildpoppy · 22/03/2015 10:19

I know an adult one and it suits her

SunnyBaudelaire · 23/03/2015 13:16

(On seeing a former lover for the first time in years) I thought I told you to wait in the car.

My 6 week daughter is Tallulah - I appreciate it's not the norm and some won't like it however we've had nothing but compliments over her name from young and old.
It's always been my favourite name!

MrsMarigold · 23/03/2015 22:34

I quite like it along with Calypso but DH would never have entertained anything so bo-ho

Thisvehicleisreversing · 23/03/2015 23:32

Stripper name.

I've only ever known one but she was shortened to Tilly which is much nicer if you want sugary girly names.
