I am seven months pregnant and really struggling with names for a baby girl. If we have a boy we like James and it is my husband's family name so the decision was an easy one. However, really struggling with names for a girl and an resorting to MN in the hope you can help us decide!

Our short list is-
Lucy
Verity
Eleanor (Nell)
Clara
Helena

Middle name Susanne.

Thank you so much for your help, I have just about list the will to live with this now! Wink

Helena or Verity

CaptainAnkles · 15/02/2015 18:18

I like Helena and Lucy but I'm not sure Susanne goes with Lucy

Nocturne123 · 15/02/2015 18:20

Lucy and Clara are lovely names. I really dislike verity.

I think both Lucy and Clara go well with Susanne too

Is Susanne a family name, so non-negotiable?

CleverPlansAndSecretTricks · 15/02/2015 18:49

They are all lovely. Some are quite popular at the moment, would that be a way to decide?

tilder · 15/02/2015 18:55

What lovely names.

If it helps to decide, do you have a preference for abbreviations or nicknames?

AuntieStella · 15/02/2015 18:59

Good list!

I'd swerve Lucy (even though I love it) because I think the repeating 's' sound is clunky.

And of your choices would go for Eleanor.

Littlewren82 · 15/02/2015 19:00

Susanne was my grandmother's name so will definitely be the middle name. Don't want to go for anything too popular, rather a classic, feminine name. The only thing that makes me hesitant about Helena is the chance of her being called Helen as I'm not as keen. Aside from that I don't mind potential nicknames.

Helena. Leni as a nickname.

musicinspring1 · 15/02/2015 19:08

Clara.

CynthiaDelgado · 15/02/2015 19:12

Verity

ScaryChicken · 15/02/2015 19:14

I don't like Helena and think it would be difficult to stop people calling her Helen.

The rest are all great and my favourite is Lucy.

Allalonenow · 15/02/2015 19:14

They are all lovely, but Verity is my favourite, and it goes well with Susanne.

Though I do like Helena, I think that the various nn Ellie Ella etc are so popular ATM that I wouldn't use it, and though you might have picked a pretty nn for use at home, once they are at school you can't control the use of nn.

I like all except verity....it's a popular sanitary towel product if I recall and it's the first thing that I think of!
