I am seven months pregnant and really struggling with names for a baby girl. If we have a boy we like James and it is my husband's family name so the decision was an easy one. However, really struggling with names for a girl and an resorting to MN in the hope you can help us decide!

Our short list is-
Lucy
Verity
Eleanor (Nell)
Clara
Helena

Middle name Susanne.

Thank you so much for your help, I have just about list the will to live with this now! Wink

Verity

ChickenMe · 15/02/2015 19:42

Verity Suzanne

Sophronia · 15/02/2015 19:51

Helena Susanne or Eleanor Susanne. Clara is nice too.

When I hear Verity I hear 'ferrety' - I'm not keen on it at all.

BadIdeaBear · 15/02/2015 21:08

Eleanor is going to be our DDs name if it's a girl! I love Nell as a nn so thanks for that suggestion too!

So I guess my vote does go for Eleanor given it's my favourite and it does go well with Susanne.

carbolicsoaprocked · 15/02/2015 22:10

Eleanor Susanne is lovely.

rockinrobintweet · 15/02/2015 23:03

Verity is my favourite but i also LOVE Eleanor (my dd is Scarlett-Eleanor). Nell is just the most adorable nn ever!!!!!!

LastOneDancing · 15/02/2015 23:10

Eleanor (Nell) has just made it onto my girls names shortlist! Love it.

kindersurprises · 16/02/2015 20:45

All lovely names. I have never met a Helena who has been known as Helen.

Rhubarbgarden · 16/02/2015 23:36

Helena or Clara.

diddl · 17/02/2015 07:26

Verity Suzanne.

Fabulous.

LynetteScavo · 17/02/2015 07:39

Verity

wesH · 17/02/2015 08:42

Anything but verity. I had a stick insect called that once

darlingfascistbullyboy · 17/02/2015 09:09

Helena Susanne is gorgeous :)

If you like Nell, Nell can be used for Helena too. My dd2 is Nell, from Penelope (Helena was a close second choice) & my Mum is Nell from Elaine ... it's a very adaptable nickname!

darlingfascistbullyboy · 17/02/2015 09:11

the Helenas I know - a few, colleague, aunt & friend - have all been know as Helena but two were Helen-a & one was Hel-ay-na. So you might get pronunciation issues.

LollyLondon · 17/02/2015 12:09

Clara or Helena. Very pretty names.

Cliffdiver · 18/02/2015 15:58

Verity, DD2 was going to be this. Her name is quite similar.

Jackieharris · 18/02/2015 18:03

I like your taste!
Lucy lovely just maybe a bit too popular atm plus it is quite 'girly'
Verity one of my very favourite names, old, easy to spell, good meaning
Eleanor (Nell) good solid name but don't like nell as nn
Clara pretty
Helena only problem is the different ways of saying it and nn of hell

NadiaWadia · 18/02/2015 18:04

I like Helena or Eleanor (although the latter very popular, of course).

pilates · 18/02/2015 18:45

I like them all except Verity, but if I had to choose it would be Clara.

xmasbaby2014 · 18/02/2015 18:47

I like Lucy best. Don't like Clara or Verity.

thegreylady · 19/02/2015 09:42

Lucy is lovely but doesn't go with Susanne because of the sibilance of two 'ss' sounds together.

caughtinthemoment · 19/02/2015 15:02

I vote for Eleanor.

Also like Helena but it's my niece's name and a lot of people pronounce it Hel-ay-na instead of Helen-a which bugs me.

Fifinella · 19/02/2015 19:02

I'm an Eleanor and I've always loved my name (so much I was tempted to give it to my little girl too, but I didn't!). I've always been Eleanor or Ellie but you can shorten it to lots of things: Nell like you said, El, Elle, Nora - all sorts really.

MadameJosephine · 19/02/2015 19:04

Love Verity

FunMitFlags · 19/02/2015 19:15

Love them all except Lucy.
