My first thought was a cruise ship, sorry!

Kentigern · 06/02/2015 10:44

Should say my inspiration is the madrigals of Orlando Gibbons (now that's a name!)

Cruise ship. Sorry

Kentigern · 06/02/2015 10:45

Is it a famous cruise ship?! Never heard of it...

LOL sorry, but then my second thought was Oreos, are they some kind of biscuit? I had one once, I just remember thinking it was vile but I can't remember if it was a biscuit or some other confectionary product. Grin

I've just been reading this novel by Freya North where the heroine is named Oriana. Apparently it was Elizabeth I's nickname.

Have to tell you that one of the characters called her Oregano!

chickydoo · 06/02/2015 10:56

Large ship

PurpleStripedSock · 06/02/2015 10:59

Oriana is a cruise ship :-)

Ariana is the name of a little girl at my daughter's nursery and I think it's quite pretty. Shortened to Ari quite often.

Kentigern · 06/02/2015 10:59

Eh well, that's a clear no then...thought for a minute I'd stumbled on a winner - but no one wants to be called after a P & O ferry!

Anyone got any suggestions that I might like?

Kentigern · 06/02/2015 11:00

Don't like Ariana...(and Oriana is a bona dose name, clearly just with unfortunate connotations now...)

OP posts:
Kentigern · 06/02/2015 11:01

Ha! I was asking for that...

Helena.

I'm trying to be serious now.

wesH · 06/02/2015 11:05

Orina and Orana are also names, i don't know how good they are but yeah thats a thing

Kentigern · 06/02/2015 11:07

Dr my DSis is Helena, and have a policy not to name after family...

It's a Greek name, a bit rare in Greece but not unheard of. I have a friend called Oriana and I really like it.

Sorefeet1 · 06/02/2015 12:13

Its actually my DD1s middle name so I love it. The name is Italian and means Golden...

TempsPerdu · 06/02/2015 12:35

I got cruise ship too - sorry! Shame, as otherwise it's very pretty. Like Arianna and Arianne though. Or there's Oliana, which I think is Polynesian...?

RL20 · 06/02/2015 14:10

I actually like Oriana and wouldn't of associated it with a cruise ship at all but that just shows what little information I know about cruise shops! Also could be my age I don't know? (I'm 22).
I like Oliana that someone else suggested. That's lovely

Purpleflamingos · 06/02/2015 15:27

Eriana?
Alannah?/ Alana
eliana?
elin?

Kentigern · 06/02/2015 15:41

Ok, so a bit more balance! I think we'll keep it on the list...
