Hi,

DH just suggested Eliza for our baby girl due next week and I've taken quite a like to it! Just considering potential nn's, what do you think?

Thanks!

Ellie or Liza.

sammyj85 · 30/01/2015 19:06

I've got to admit, dolittle is the first thing I thought of!

It's lovely!

My dad had an Aunt Eliza, but being Cockney she was Aunt Li (pronounced Lye) Smile

AutumnMelody · 30/01/2015 19:13

I think I would use the full name as it's so pretty :)

Dragonflyfly · 30/01/2015 19:16

Ellie

Thisismyfirsttime · 30/01/2015 19:17

As an affectionate nn if I had a dd called Eliza I'd call her Zaza.

Belazu84 · 30/01/2015 19:21

I love this name. Neither of the one's I know have nicknames. It's easy enough...

Rockinghorse123 · 30/01/2015 20:02

If dc2 is a girl she will be Eliza nn Lizzy.

It's a great name Grin

ReallyBadParty · 30/01/2015 20:04

Just use Eliza!

Fancyachive · 30/01/2015 20:08

Lizey

Juno321 · 30/01/2015 20:10

Why not just use Eliza if you like the name???

Bowlersarm · 30/01/2015 20:12

Liza - Lie-za

Two Elizas we know are called this.

BlueStarsAtNight · 30/01/2015 20:13

I love the name, it's already kind of a nn itself, but I think it would naturally get shortenened to Liza or Lyz

bananananacoconuts · 30/01/2015 20:18

Dad's best friend is Eliza. She is usually called Ella

MrsTawdry · 30/01/2015 20:18

Are you considering what other kids will call her when you say "considering nicknames"? or are you looking for a shortened version of Eliza to use yourself?

If it's the latter then why not just call her whichever short version you like best? Confused

ceeveebee · 30/01/2015 20:34

We call ours Liza-Lou (she is only 3 though so not got to the school stage yet)

CleverPlansAndSecretTricks · 30/01/2015 20:40

Isn't Eliza a nickname for Elizabeth?

Sophronia · 30/01/2015 21:33

I don't think it needs a nickname, especially as it's already a shortened form of the name Elizabeth.

Thanks for your thoughts. I would call her Eliza, I was just thinking about what people (or she) might shorten it to, to make sure I like those too!

I think it's definitely a contender!

I know 3 Elizas and everyone just calls them Eliza
