Help me find a really pretty, princessy girls name

DD is Sophia (DS is Noah). DD2 is arriving by section in 4 days and we still don't have a name. I LOVE the name Sophia, it's everything perfect for girl IMO. i know it will get shortened to Soph at times but that's not the worst. I can't find something I like as much for poor DD2!

DH has vetoed Poppy, Penelope (my favourite at the moment), Aurelia, Lola, Layla, Mila, Annabel, Alannah, Alexa, Phoebe, Arabella.

Names I love but don't want to use coz i don't like the shortened versions are: Juliet, Elodie, Rebecca, Eloise, Julia, Aurora, Isabella, Valentina, Vivienne, Olivia. These are the exact type of name i want but can't get around the shortenings which i really don't like.

I also love Clara but we're in Ireland and most people pronounce it differently to me (like Lara as opposed to Clar like Car -ah) and that would annoy me!

I LOVE Rosa and Elena but can't use them due to friends and family.

The only name we remotely agree on is Chloe and while it is a lovely name I'm not sure if it's fancy enough, especially as it's been so popular for so long, I'm worried it's a bit boring now.

If we'd had girls, my top name was Esme. I also like Jeanne...
DFs have DDs called Arianne, Amelia which are nice. I love Delphine!

Eleanor? Victoria? Charlotte (Charlotta)

Edenviolet · 23/01/2015 12:45

Ariane or Arianna

Go with one of the names you like and don't use the shortened versions. My name is one of those you listed and no one ever tries to shorten it.

Conversely, my sons all have names which could be shortened in 2 or 3 different ways. They are all known by just one of the possible shortenings, only one of them has ever had anyone try to use another form, and he just says " no, its x not y".

Sophia means 'wisdom' much better than being princessy

Go with one of the names you like. My mother thought she'd given me an unshortenable name - my friends found otherwise!

Chloe goes much better with Sophia and Noah than any of your fancier names.

myotherusernameisbetter · 23/01/2015 14:15

Emily seems the obvious choice?

i'm not a fan of Chloe to fair - it seems a bit harsh compared to your other DC names

or what about:
Liberty
Lucia (loo chee a)
Arianna
Louisa

myotherusernameisbetter · 23/01/2015 14:17

meant to say I know of a family with Noah, Sophia and no3 is Amelia

steppeinginto2015 · 23/01/2015 14:17

Emilia

Annabelle

To be honest, I don't get the shortening thing. I am a Rebecca and have ever ever been called Becky. Now as an adult I am always known as rebecca, because when people ask me my name that is what I say. Just as my friend Jenny never ever introduces herself as Jennifer.

So I think you do get to use the whole name if you are clear.

Sizzlesthedog · 23/01/2015 14:20

Cinderella is a princess's name. But does shorten to Ella or Cinders, so not so good.

Baddz · 23/01/2015 14:23

Helena
Eleanor
Grace
Eve

HazleNutt · 23/01/2015 14:27

Estelle. I'm not sure it has a short version though, Stella maybe?
