Today at work I came across a 30 something guy called Dickon. Who would do that to their child??!!

Hid surname didn't exactly help either, though not sure any would?

(Having looked it up, apparently Dickon is Old English for Richard.)

I'm a Dickon, and have wondered for years what my parents were thinking when I was born? They had a choice of Dickon or Sebastian and chose the former! As you can probably guess years of grief ensued, especially at school when the teacher called the register.

Since leaving school and going through my 20's and 30's the name calling has become less and less, but people still question my name or ask me to repeat my name whenever I speak to them for the first time...

I went to school with a Dickon he never had any issues. His name sounded exotic and he went on to be a highly successful fighter pilot. Lovely guy

I knew a Dickon at school - no teasing that I was aware.

William nickname Willy is indeed worse imo

Secret Garden 🙂I agree it’s a nice name but spell it with a k not the cc, it looks wrong.
