Peter?

Still contemplating names for DS2 due in a few weeks' time.
Have flirted with Oscar (but too popular ), Saul, Torin and Corin..now wondering about Peter. Very unusual at the moment and nice-sounding I think? Hate shortening Pete though.

Any opinions on Peter?

Similar to you I really like Peter but hate Pete, and since we always shorten DS1's name I'm sure that would end up shortened too.

tammytoby · 17/11/2014 22:51

Peter and Torin are both lovely classic names!

sjovt · 17/11/2014 23:03

i like it!

NormanTheForeman · 17/11/2014 23:05

Love Peter. Classic but not currently popular.

KERALA1 · 17/11/2014 23:05

Adorable

DramaAlpaca · 17/11/2014 23:06

I really like Peter but not Pete

Trinpy · 17/11/2014 23:10

Really nice.

carbolicsoaprocked · 17/11/2014 23:30

I love Peter, perhaps biased as I have a lovely relation called Peter - he usually gets called Pete, maybe this is why I like Pete too! Wish I could use it but wouldn't because of the family link. I love Saul too.

dorasee · 17/11/2014 23:33

I love the name Peter!

squoosh · 17/11/2014 23:51

I actually know two baby Peters.

squoosh · 17/11/2014 23:52

It's fine but a bit bland for me.

YouAreMyRain · 17/11/2014 23:52

Love it!

BlueGreenHazelGreen · 17/11/2014 23:56

Peter rocks! Grin

MrsHoolie · 18/11/2014 00:01

Lovely name

CookieB · 18/11/2014 00:03

Love Saul. Peter not so much but that's only because I know a Peter who is annoying. If you do use Peter, please don't use Torin as middle name!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 18/11/2014 00:09

I like it but can't put out of my mind that it means "to fart" in French.

squoosh · 18/11/2014 00:12

I never thought of that!

I do make pets de nonnes sometimes and do get a childish giggle from knowing it translates as 'nuns farts'.

JakeyBurd · 18/11/2014 00:55

I only know a few Peters but they all get nicknamed Pedro. Hmm

ChippingInAutumnLover · 18/11/2014 01:03

If you don't like Pete you'd be mad to choose Peter.

I think you'd be made anyway unless I've woken up in 1970

Sophronia · 18/11/2014 01:11

Peter is a great name. Unfortunately hearing 'Baby Peter' would remind me of Baby P Sad

SnoringNorma · 18/11/2014 02:02

Peter is a lovely crisp classic name. Doesn't sound dated to me at all.

ReinholdMessner · 18/11/2014 06:54

I know two Peters. Both hate Pete and politely correct anyone who uses it. They're universally known as Peter.

AuntieStella · 18/11/2014 07:04

Perfect Peter is Horrid Henry's brother (and that might account for it not being used much these days, a bit like Walter being a no-no for the 1960/70s Beano generation).

KERALA1 · 18/11/2014 07:08

I love it. Refreshing change from all the Oliver's Noah's and bens.really underused I've never met one under 10 (London then south west)

FoodieMum3 · 18/11/2014 10:49

Beautiful name.
