Am currently deciding what to call DC3, who is due in a few months time. Having looked through almost every thread made me think about names that I haven't heard in ages. I mean names that don't get used for new born babies anymore.

Here's some I can think off that I haven't personally heard in a long time.

Lisa
Melissa
Fiona
Barry
Adam
Christopher
Peter
Steven
Tracy
Joy
Judith
Iris
Wilma
Daphne
Susan
Tommy
Barney
Mary
Elizabeth
Joseph
Simon
David
Alan
Gary
Heather

Turdfairy - there was a baby David at our rhyme-time group last week - amongst all the Reubens and Enids it really stuck out!

turdfairynomore · 28/10/2014 00:24

Baby David conjures up the Royle Family to me now! And yet when I was at school it was one of those names that there were 3 of in each class!!

My one month old dd is on that list wondering if I'm the friend of a friend! I love some of the names mentioned here.

Tangoandcreditcards · 28/10/2014 06:50

Geoff/Jeffrey.
Sandra

Most of the others I can think of have already been said.

youmakemydreams · 28/10/2014 06:51

I have a smallish Adam, know a 7 month old baby Paul and an 8 year old one.
My me and dp's names are on those lists we are children of the 70's who know loads of other people with our names.

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 28/10/2014 06:53

I've not met any small dc called

Carl
Maureen
Gail
Michelle

Lunastarfish · 28/10/2014 08:35

glittershoes · 28/10/2014 09:12

It is interesting isn't it? I am in Yorkshire and I know lots of little Elizabeths, Irises, Freddies and Josephs.

Definitely no little Kevins, Jeffreys or Sharons though!

treadheavily · 28/10/2014 09:16

From the first list I know of a few littlies caaled

Melissa
Mary
Heather
Joseph (lots)
David

Not the others though.

Definitely no Barneys. That would be like The Flintstones.

ScreamingSmegs · 28/10/2014 09:20

I don't know any small children called -

Helen
Laura
Lisa
Anne
Clare/Claire
Nicola
Michelle
Rachel
Rebecca
Ruth
Amanda
Jennifer
Zoe

All massively popular when I was at school. I've met a few Felicitys, Laurens and Madeleines recently tho, which were also very popular. And a lot of Victorias - it's the new Olivia round here.

Name I love but have not heard in years, and probably not likely to again - Jeanne (prefer that spelling to Jean). I think I must be one of the few that likes it though, it's definitely not a 'pretty' name.

Shlep · 28/10/2014 09:21

Keith.
Irene.
Gladys.
Gerald.
Trevor.
Queenie.
Suzanne
Jason

Deborah.

Stokey · 28/10/2014 11:00

Barney

I don't know any
Catherine (most popular name when I was at school)
Richard (hundreds of grown up ones)
Pamela
Linda
Gavin
Claire
Jacqueline (Jackie)
Hilary

to name but a few

PetaPipa · 28/10/2014 11:08

David was in the top 100 for 2013. It really surprised me as I haven't come across any.

AmeliaPeabody · 28/10/2014 11:10

Iris has been trendy for some time here. It's not uncommon for young girls.
Elizabeth too, and Mary to lesser extent. We know one young Heather too.

Kathleen
Susan
Mildred
Maureen
Edna
Pauline

Norbert
Norman
Raymond
Gareth
Donald

LadyMaryofDownton · 28/10/2014 11:19

Oh these are great! Thanks for the replies :) it's so nice to see names of people I went to school with (and my own). It seems to depend a lot on location as well.
