Luna or Fleur?

Which do you prefer? I know they are both a bit marmite but we LOVE both of them just can't quite decide which!

Fleur is lovely
Luna isn't ( IMHO )
Fflur is a lovely Welsh name ( Fleer )

los1975 what reactions to you get to Fleur, also do you get pronounciation problems?

I hate Fleur. It is one of the few names I really dislike.

It sounds like Eurghhhh...the sound your children make when you put down a delicious meal infront of them that you have spent hours preparing as opposed to fish and chips.

Or the sound you make when someone says they stepped in dog poo and trecked it in the house.

Fleur is gorgeous and elegant.

Fleur rhymes with blur in French- an 'oo' sound is anglicised

I used to love Fleur. I love flower names so this was an alternative I quite liked. However, I have read so many times that people think it sounds like Eurghhhh and it has sadly put me off.

kaekae it also puts me off but I have to remind myself that if they say it sounds like eurghhh then they are pronouncing it wrong!

I like Fleur. However, my only thing with it is when you keep saying it over and over again or shouting it over and over again (which you will) it doesn't sound as good and that's why I personally put it in my middle names list! It looks great on paper and when you say it once! Does that make any sense?

Luna. I have never been a fan of (but if you like it then go for it)! I personally don't like the sound or the meaning so it would be out for me.

In this case I would definitely go with Fleur if I had to choose.

How about? Blossom or Lyra?

Fleur is stunning.

I'm just so confused now. In my head I thought we had settled on Luna now I think I'm lening towards Fleur.

I'm unsure as to how well Luna would work on an adult but I still love it.

Fleur I think is pretty, quirky and will age well. Though is very much a love it or hate it. I'm not too worried about pronounciation issues as I think once I correct someone once it should be fine.

Since it means Flower it ought to sound pretty, but I just can't get it to.

Exactly what squoosh said -Fleur is very bleurgh. Not a pretty name at all, IMO.

I used to have a freind called Fleur and my boyfriend at the time could never pronounce it and used to refer to her as Floor or Flu-er. It put me right off the name for a while.

Marmite refers to something people either love or loathe.

To be honest, Fleur sounds like someone vomiting, sorry. I don't like Luna either but it's better than Fleur.
