Sister to Nancy if that has a bearing. Two syllable surname. Middle names would be Helena Ruth

Verity - it was on our list for DC3. But he came out blue so never got to use it. So pretty yet strong and I love the meaning.

WaffleWiffle · 11/08/2014 15:00

Grrr, don't use Felicity. I've already picked it for my daughter due in 5 weeks time. Picked partly because I don't want a name in the top 100 - so don't want it becoming popular.

I'm only partly kidding. Great mind think alike, it's a fantastic name.

Sophronia · 11/08/2014 15:31

Verity. I think it goes better with Nancy.

The Felicity I knew went by Fliss.

Sophronia · 11/08/2014 15:32

Veri or Vera could be nicknames for Verity?

minipie · 11/08/2014 15:33

I like both but would pick Felicity as I think it's prettier and has more nn options.

As it happens I know both a Felicity and a Verity and the Verity is by far the more cheerful Grin

Playdoughcaterpillar · 11/08/2014 15:36

Felicity!

BigfootFiles · 11/08/2014 15:36

Felicity is a much nicer name. Verity/Ferrety is too close in sound.

Viviennemary · 11/08/2014 15:38

I like Verity much better. It just sounds nicer and is more unusual.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 11/08/2014 16:25

I prefer Verity, but I love V names generally! I love the meaning of Felicity but I've never liked it as a name :(

pennyapples · 11/08/2014 16:34

oh dear
am terribly confused
maybe I should see what she looks like
if indeed she is a she
could all be academic if its a boy!
only four weeks to go though - wish I had more of a set idea

Felicity, I prefer the meaning.

A friend has a cousin called Felicity and her nickname is Felix. Probably one of those nicknames that has evolved over time rather than was given to her at birth but I can see how it works.

ShovettyMcShovetty · 11/08/2014 17:30

I love both! Maybe prefer Felicity slightly.

Yorkshirelassreturns · 11/08/2014 20:01

Both are lovely. I actually know sisters called Verity and Felicity. I do prefer Felicity but if you love Verity- go with that- your instincts are always right. As far as a shortening goes, the Verity I know goes by Etty which I think is cute! Congratulations!

pennyapples · 11/08/2014 20:50

Oh Etty is actually lovely!
God am so crap, wildly flipping between the two!

I'm surprised at this thread.

I've only ever seen verity getting good feedback from mn.

Felicity is an old lady who spends her time in her garden doing her roses.
Or holly valance in neighbours.

Verity is such a cool name.

Unusual bit everyone can spell it.

angeltulips · 11/08/2014 21:13

Verity. Gorgeous name. Vee for short (if necessary).

But I know 2 felicitys (felicities?) who are called flea for short, which I loath - so would never go with felicity.

RainbowB7 · 11/08/2014 21:15

Verity

Im also surprised at the verity haters. It's a nice name and not dull/stuffy etc.

Floop · 11/08/2014 21:18

Felicity. Because youngest daughter is one :)

Fliss generally.

littleSpud · 11/08/2014 21:19

Verity is a brill name Wink

MollyBdenum · 11/08/2014 21:20

Verify. Strong, simple, cool. Felicity sounds a little bit too frilly and old fashioned. It makes me think of doilies. It does have better nicknames, though. I knew a Fizz once.

morethanpotatoprints · 11/08/2014 21:20

I prefer Felicity just because I do, but in practical terms when doing things alphabetically she will be at the end of the queue just before Zoe.

morethanpotatoprints · 11/08/2014 21:21

I mean if you call her verity Grin

bouncingbelle · 11/08/2014 21:23

Verity - cool classy name that goes well with nancy.

Felicity just always seems wishy washy, little-girly to me.

BikeRunSki · 11/08/2014 21:23

Ooooh

Happiness or Truth?

Hard call, but I prefer Verity.

FloraPost · 11/08/2014 22:04

I'm a Felicity. No-one can spell it and I'm a grumpy bugger so it's spectacularly ill-chosen in my case. Verity's much better.
