Sister to Nancy if that has a bearing. Two syllable surname. Middle names would be Helena Ruth

I prefer Felicity as I like the meaning of the name and I think Flick is quite a cool nickname. Also the name of someone I knew and she was very charismatic :)

burgatroyd · 11/08/2014 09:30

Felicity! Great meaning and sound. Great nicknames.

Verity sounds uptight.

Slavetominidictator · 11/08/2014 09:32

Felicity is pretty, fun and unusual. Verity sound earnest, prim and like a Puritan.
My mum nearly called me Verity. Fortunately she didn't.

Branleuse · 11/08/2014 09:35

Felicity, because Flick is such a cool nickname

BunnyLebowski · 11/08/2014 09:37

Felicity. It's gorgeous, has a much nicer meaning and Flick and Fliss are both fabulous nicknames.

Verity sounds stuffy, puritanical and just not very pretty to me.

Teladi · 11/08/2014 09:38

Both are beautiful. Don't let people put you off Verity! I think Nancy and Verity sound good together!

Montsti · 11/08/2014 10:34

I prefer Felicity.

WhispersOfWickedness · 11/08/2014 10:43

Felicity, because the most pessimistic person I've ever met was a Verity!

Allalonenow · 11/08/2014 10:54

Both lovely names, but I would pick Verity, classy strong name.

ralinax294 · 11/08/2014 12:09

Felicity, no particular reason I just think it's a much nicer name!

OublietteBravo · 11/08/2014 12:15

Felicity because I like the meaning (it was on my list of girls names for DC2 - I didn't get to use it bacuause I had a boy).

Sundaedelight · 11/08/2014 12:22

Felicity!

pennyapples · 11/08/2014 13:27

gosh - I was totally expecting this to go the other way!
I was kind of leaning more towards Verity - only reservation is lack of obvious shortening (I'm a shortening kind of a person - know not everyone is)
but interesting that people think Verity is a bit dull / uptight!

squoosh · 11/08/2014 13:37

Verity is a whey faced, sharp tongued misery guts.

Felicity is so much more joyful and carefree.

pennyapples · 11/08/2014 13:45

hahaha
so you don't like it then

turdfairynomore · 11/08/2014 14:25

I like both. Have taught a verity who was known as V.

Gileswithachainsaw · 11/08/2014 14:27

Felicity

Flick is a good nn

Plus there was a tv show called felicity which was pretty good

PinkSquash · 11/08/2014 14:28

Verity is a large statue by Damien Hirst in Ilfracombe. Horrid thing it is, so I'm all for Felicity.

Pandora37 · 11/08/2014 14:37

I prefer Felicity, it's prettier and has more nickname options. I don't see Verity as uptight and it sounds good with Nancy but I think it sounds more 'serious' with your middle names, if that makes sense.

squoosh · 11/08/2014 14:40

Gileswithachainsaw I'd completely forgotten about the TV show called Felicity. Used to be obsessed by it!

pennyapples · 11/08/2014 14:41

is it a baby name though? or a grown up name? actually come to that am not sure Verity is a baby name either - but if am refocusing on felicity (am coming round) does it suit a baby?
I like Fliss

Loved it. Seemed the more grown up version to Dawson's creek :o

UriGeller · 11/08/2014 14:44

Verity.

Felicity is wet. I knew one growing up. she was just basically known as 'Facility' . She Never got called "Flick" which just makes me think of Herr Flick anyway.

Marcipex · 11/08/2014 14:48

Felicity. I know one called Fifi.

I always liked the name Verity, until I met one known as Ferrety.

wattlegirl · 11/08/2014 14:51

I personally like both names but I would choose Felicity as I think it will be better received by people. And I think many of the posts here bear this out.
