I really like it, it's on our shortlist of boys names too, but we are both big X-Files fans! Only thing holding us back is that OH has an "unusual name", and has reservations about giving his child a lifetime of "Oh, you don't hear that very often...", like he gets.

florascotia · 18/07/2014 18:41

Your baby, your name choice. Absolutely your right. I really, really don't wish to offend, but I honestly don't see why people fortunate enough to be blessed with a fabulous real life individual new baby want to name him or her after some audience-manipulating, profit-motivatated, here-one-day-gone-tomorrow TV series. Am sorry, I honestly don't wish to sound critrical, but I hope you see what I mean...

No

Travis Fox is so cool!

If your DD wasn't Meg I'd have said 'yes' as a first name Grin

Lex
Rex

honestly i hate it. thats just my opinion though. doesnt sound like a real name. i just think of the animal or 'foxy' like slang for sexy. not keen at all.

could work as a trendly middle name though.

Superrhan · 19/07/2014 15:46

Love it as a middle name, don't like at all as a middle name.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 19/07/2014 20:19

Travis Fox C......... it is then!

Thanks everyone

Hacked - sorry just seen this. His name is Lucian Fox. He was going to be Lucius Fox before we realised that was a character from Batman Smile

CruCru · 22/07/2014 20:19

It's okay as a nickname.

Not a regular poster but have name changed as I am totally and very proudly going to out myself as the Mum of a beautiful little blonde toddler Fox, Hi to anyone who will know me....

I love my sons name, I chose it because I love it just as I am sure anyone chooses their childs name. I have had very few negative reactions to it, both of our families love it too - his Grandparents love telling people his name and hearing their reactions! If we ever do get a weird what kind of name is that reaction we just smile and think its your problem not ours!

But I do wish people wouldn't be so judgemental - we were not trying hard to be anything when we named him certainly did not name him after the X Files or any other famous Fox we just liked the name and we don't feel that we have saddled him with a weird name.

interestingly adults are the ones that seem to judge so much and yet his nursery friends don't bat an eyelid.

We do live in a very diverse area of London and actually Fox really isn't viewed as a weird name here at all

If Fox wants to grow up to be the PM, a laywer, a teacher, an accountant, a rockstar or whatever career he chooses he should be able to without the slightly odd snobbery that seems to exist around certain names that suggest a particular social class or type of upbringing standing in his way.

In essence the name Fox rocks - my advice to anyone is if you love a name then go for it. The world would be a very boring place if we all conformed to the Mumsnet list of acceptable names wouldn't it.

All the very best in naming your little one
A very proud Fox Mum

MultipleMama · 31/07/2014 20:48

I really love Fox.

birdofthenorth · 31/07/2014 23:35

I think I like it. I hope if I met a little Fox I'd think, that's cool.

SuperWifeANDMum · 03/08/2014 10:48

Adore Fox, my DS middle name is Fox.

If your daughter is Megan then I don't think you can really go with Fox unfortunately.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 05/08/2014 23:24

Travis Fox is an AMAZING name!

nooka · 06/08/2014 06:49

Sorry, I'm afraid I think that Fox is just silly as a name. Travis is great though.

Tweediestwo · 08/08/2014 21:35

I like it but be prepared for x files fans. Nickname will be mulder!
