Not a regular poster but have name changed as I am totally and very proudly going to out myself as the Mum of a beautiful little blonde toddler Fox, Hi to anyone who will know me....
I love my sons name, I chose it because I love it just as I am sure anyone chooses their childs name. I have had very few negative reactions to it, both of our families love it too - his Grandparents love telling people his name and hearing their reactions! If we ever do get a weird what kind of name is that reaction we just smile and think its your problem not ours!
But I do wish people wouldn't be so judgemental - we were not trying hard to be anything when we named him certainly did not name him after the X Files or any other famous Fox we just liked the name and we don't feel that we have saddled him with a weird name.
interestingly adults are the ones that seem to judge so much and yet his nursery friends don't bat an eyelid.
We do live in a very diverse area of London and actually Fox really isn't viewed as a weird name here at all
If Fox wants to grow up to be the PM, a laywer, a teacher, an accountant, a rockstar or whatever career he chooses he should be able to without the slightly odd snobbery that seems to exist around certain names that suggest a particular social class or type of upbringing standing in his way.
In essence the name Fox rocks - my advice to anyone is if you love a name then go for it. The world would be a very boring place if we all conformed to the Mumsnet list of acceptable names wouldn't it.
All the very best in naming your little one
A very proud Fox Mum
