What do you think of Francesca?

DH and I have a short list of 5, and I think Francesca is going to be the one. The list in my order of preference (DH in brackets) is:

Brooke (4)
Francesca (5)
Caitlyn (3)
Skye (1)
Charlotte (5)

As our #1s don't go together we can't use the other as a middle name so I think both are out.

Caitlyn we like, but I hate "Katy" however it's spelt and I think it could be a problem.

I like lottie as a nn for Charlotte, DH likes charlie.

So I think it's going to be Francesca Skye.

What do you think?

Francesca was in my top 3 but DP hated it, I love it :)

I don't really have an opinion on Caitlyn either way but I know a few and only 1 gets called Katy but that was down to the parents.

Both Francesca and Skye are nice on their own but I think that the way you're thinking of putting them together, the two "sk" sounds are a little bit close to each other.

I'm a teacher and have taught a few Caitlyns, none of them have gone by Katie.

Francesca is my favourite, not keen on the others, except for Charlotte but not together.

You have very similar taste to me!

I like all these names.

I don't think caitlyn would necessarily get nn kate as it only has 2 syllables. Especially as it is spelled with a 'c'.

But you don't have control over nns so maybe only use names where you like the nns too.

Francesca is a nice name but I doubt she would get called the full name. How do you feel about fran and frankie?

Brooke and Skye don't have the nn problem so I'd probably choose one of those as a first name with Francesca or caitlyn as a middle name.

Don't have a problem with either Fran or Frankie although I wouldn't default to either of them (happy just to see what flows really).

Would love to still be able to convince DH about Brooke!

DS1 was going to be Francesca - love it Smile
Caitlin is pretty. We have 2 Caitlins in year 7 at the school where i work and noe of them is called Katie - all Caitlin

I love the name Francesca, its been on my list in my previous pregnancies but my ex dp hated it, I have suggested it this time and OH does like it but thinks its too long and said about shortening it to Frankie which im not keen about

I also love Charlotte. But Brooke and Caitlyn? The antithesis of Francesca to me, sorry.

Love Francesca (classic name) but hate Skye (dislike, also trendy ten years ago imho). I think Francesca is such a traditional beautiful name that is needs a middle name of the same ilk... Francesca and Skye just don't go together, for me anyway...
I'd be suggesting:
Francesca Lily
Francesca Marie
Francesca Alice (though, not crazy of name ending A joining name starting A)

As you love Brooke so much, why not go for Francesca Brooke as a compromise?

Best on your list in my view. You can always shirten to Chess, or Cesca instead of Frankie.

DD is Francesca Maria. She hates it but I think it's beautiful. We call her Fanny at home and her friends call her Frankie. Throughout primary school she hated being called Frankie so was known as Fran by all her friends which I hate.
Some people call her Cess or Cesca, one of her friends used to call her Frange!
She is half Portuguese and her surname is 3 syllables ending in -a which gives her full name a lovely rhythm Smile

Brooke, Caitlyn and Skye seem a v different style to me and I really dislike them, I'm afraid.

Francesca is lovely. Also jealous as DH doesn't like it- boo! I would like the nn Chessie though as opposed to Frankie or Fran.

I agree with thegreengrass about Skye/Brooke being in a very different style though. They also wouldn't be for me.

We've got a Francesca who goes by Chess or Chessie or Chess-chess.

Her sister calls her Franchie sometimes.

We love the name!

Love Francesca :) such a lovely name.
Charlotte is nice but just so so popular but its a classic will never date.
I don't like the other ones at all

I love Francesca, it's on my list along with Elsie, Daisy, Annabelle (and Dh's choices of Ella and Katie...)

Skye sounds nice as a middle name as the first name is so long. I wouldn't choose it myself but if you both like it, go for it!

Compromise is the key to this marriage lark!!!

Francesca is infinitely superior to Brooke IMO. I think Francesca Skye works just fine.

I love it. I think if I ever had to change my name I would change it to Franchesca or Frances.

I like Charlotte second.

Skye and Caitlyn are OK.

Brooke is a bit meh.
