Girls names - Lara, Elsie, Phoebe

Really stuck thinking of girls names. I'd ideally like a short two syllable name as we have a one syllable surname.

I like, in order:

Elsie
Phoebe
Lara

What other similar names might I be overlooking?

All stunning! Go with one of them!

BlueStarsAtNight · 29/06/2014 07:48

My order would be

Phoebe
Elsie
Lara

You could also think about

Zoe
Amy
Cora
Emma
Enid
Edith
Martha

Lara is lovely
Phoebe is fine
Elsie is still just for cranky old ladies.

How about.....
Honor
Vivienne
Claudia
Helena

Phoebe is my favourite, Lara second. Elsie is very granny-chic of the moment so will date.

Also:
Lucy
Tara
Nina

Notso · 29/06/2014 08:49

I like Phoebe and Elsie.

Not keen on Lara.

SaltySeaBird · 29/06/2014 09:19

Out if the others suggested I quite like Martha but none of the others really appeal (well I like Lucy and Amy but have very close relatives with those names so couldn't use them).

PunkAssMoFo I think we have very different tastes in names, sorry!

I do particularly want a short two syllable name as this sounds best with our surname.

I also like Tara and Larissa.

Not keen on Elsie but think Elsa is nice. Lara then Phoebe.

bouncingbelle · 29/06/2014 15:07

I love Elsa but it was vetoed by DH who was reminded of some woman and a lioness from the 1960s.

Fedupofplaystation · 29/06/2014 21:04

Love Lara - it's classy and yet kick-ass at the same time, great name for a little girl or a woman.

Elsie is nice, prefer Elsa but both may date.

Pheobe is OK.

How about Anya or Margo?

skinnyamericano · 29/06/2014 21:07

Lara Lara Lara!!!!

Love it.... big regret of mine, not using it.

DramaAlpaca · 29/06/2014 21:07

Of the three, I think Lara is beautiful & underused.

Phoebe is OK.

Elsie is an old lady name to me, & not to my taste at all.

There are lots of Elsie's where I am. It's either a name for someone over 85 or under 5.

Lara and Phoebe are lovely

Mintyy · 29/06/2014 23:29

Love all three of those names. If pushed I would say Lara then Elsie then Phoebe.

HKat · 01/07/2014 16:18

Love Lara. I desperately wanted it for dd but our surname begins with an L and so it was vetoed on grounds it sounded like something out of Superman

NewtRipley · 01/07/2014 21:45

Lana
Leah
Lyra

Betty
Maggie
Pearl

Stella
Bonnie
Verity

NewtRipley · 01/07/2014 21:46

My first choice of your names would be Lara, then Elsie

I don't like Phoebe (sorry, it makes me think of feeby, an imaginary adjective)

Trooperslane · 01/07/2014 21:48

I love Lara (have one)

And I was just thinking about Phoebe for imaginary dd2

Jemimapuddlemuck · 01/07/2014 21:48

I love them all but a friend with a Phoebe says it drives her nuts everyone spelling it wrong all the time! My favourite of the 3 is Lara I think.
