I'm currently pregnant with my fifth child no idea if it's a boy or a girl but as DH is an absolute pest when it comes to names I need to start planning now. I love Jemima but DH says no whilst coming up with no suggestions of his own sigh.

Other names I like but he dislikes are

Ophelia
Persephone
Arriety
Harriet
Ottillie
Ariadne
Cecily
Romilly
Thomasina
Georgia

Totally outing myself I currently have

E l I j a h
I m o g e n
M e r e d I t h
H e r m I o n e

I think Jemima goes really well with them. What do you say MNers?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I really like Jemima. Strong and feminine but not fussy. In the past, a well-liked Scottish name; I had a great-aunt Jemima.

stinkingbishop · 28/06/2014 19:27

I

blondiebonce · 28/06/2014 19:32

I love Jemima! Cute but not twee and will suit her at all ages

Congrats btw!

BackforGood · 28/06/2014 19:32

The only Jemima I know was from Play School on the TV when I was growing up, so I do tend to associate it with rag dolls.
That said, it would probably make the top of the list now, having read the others you are considering - clearly we have different tastes in names Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 28/06/2014 19:33

Puddleduck! But in a nice way.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 28/06/2014 19:34

It goes very well with your other dcs names but if your dh says no maybe its time to go back to the drawing board? What names has he suggested?

Secretsquirrel13 · 28/06/2014 19:35

I know one she is 8, it's a lovely name.

DramaAlpaca · 28/06/2014 19:35

Glaikit has said exactly what I was going to say Smile

That association aside, it's a pretty name & goes well with your other DC's names.

From your list, the ones I like best are Ophelia & Cecily.

OutragedFromLeeds · 28/06/2014 19:41

It makes me think Puddleduck, but it does go very well with your other names.

From your list I like Harriet and Georgia best, I prefer the less fussy ones personally.

Shesparkles · 28/06/2014 19:49

My gran was a Jemima and was pretty awesome, so I can only see it as positive!

Secretsquirrel13 · 28/06/2014 19:51

I like all of your other names apart from Arriety and thomasina.

Mrsindecision · 28/06/2014 20:37

Jemima was a name we considered too, but the very strong negative racial connotations in North America put me off it. I really wanted to choose names for my DC which would travel well and unfortunately it didn't fit with this requirement.

manicinsomniac · 28/06/2014 20:44

Love Jemima. I know several (but all aged 12-17 strangely, maybe it had a surge in popularity around then). I didn't realise about negative racial connotations?

I also like most of the names on your list (not keen on Ariadne or Thomasina). Does your husband have very different taste?

LJBanana · 28/06/2014 20:49

I love it. It's so pretty without being wet, and it looks good written down ( if that makes sense?)

Alita7 · 28/06/2014 20:56

I prefer Ophelia, Harriet and Ariadne but I do like Jemima too :)

DitzyDonkey · 28/06/2014 21:20

Love Jemima

Castlelough · 29/06/2014 05:04

Your children all have lovely names!
Jemima would go really well with them. I also love Georgia from your list.

To be honest, since you are pregnant with %235 I would be playing on that a little! Especially since your DH has no contributions as of yet. You should get to name %235 something you love!!!

Wishfulmakeupping · 29/06/2014 05:33

My favourite is Georgia from your list which I love and Harriet is another fab name I would work on your DH :)

poocatcherchampion · 29/06/2014 06:54

we had a long debate choosing between jemima, Harriet and Georgina. threads are on here. we went with Georgina in the end with no regrets.

Jemima was my least favourite (dh choice).

Thank you for all your opinions. We have a long time to go yet so I'll keep working on him. His name taste is wildly different to mine - Kimberley, Blyth, Olwen, are some examples!

I like Jemima, but love your other names more.

You must have a Persephone with your children's names Grin Also Romilly, Ophelia or Ariadne.

molly84 · 29/06/2014 13:19

I instantly think Puddleduck but I like it!

BeckaH123 · 30/06/2014 11:24

Sorry, I don't really like Jemima - it just makes me think of Jemima Puddleduck from Beatrix Potter!

Of your list I really like Ottillie, Romilly and Georgia. I love your DCs names too. Smile

Bowlersarm · 30/06/2014 11:26

I like Jemima, although prefer Romilly from your list.
