I love Oliver if I have boy. Also James, Joseph

Cannot think of a girls name I love that hasn't been used by close friends

Anna, Emma

I do like Sarah but any other suggestions grateful. I might go for Mary.

I picked DD2's name as a strong name - Claudia

I love Mary!

If I had another girl she would be Esther, though this isn't an especially strong name, more whispy and gentle, I think.

TessOfTheFurbyvilles · 28/06/2014 10:29

I have a Sarah (4) and a Mary (1).

Nice choices!

Mary is too "Catholic ". It makes me think of slightly overweight girls in gym slips and wire-rimmed spectacles at Convent schools.

Chumhum · 28/06/2014 10:42

Grace
Claire

Misfitless · 28/06/2014 10:53

Bonsoir...that's why I love it! Smile Wink

Not the overweight girls in gym slips bit, though!

Misfitless · 28/06/2014 10:55

Mary to me equals grace, humility, wisdom, strength, patience all loving etc. It'a a beautiful name, OP.

Yes to Eliza and Mary
My contribution would be Eleanor, Catherine, Alexandra, Victoria and Charlotte

AChildminder88 · 28/06/2014 11:04

Florence
Hazel
Jean
Rosalie

These are names on my list for girls, a couple of them are grandparents names. Girls names are tricky because I don't like anything to soft like Maisie and Ellie (beautiful toddler names, not so much as an adult) x

HemlockStarglimmer · 28/06/2014 11:48

I have two close friends called Mary, neither are Catholic, slightly overweight, wear gymslips or wire rimmed glasses.

However, Mary is my middle name and out of that list I don't wear gymslips Grin.

I like Elizabeth, Katharine, Barbara, Judith and Meg.

Rhubarbgarden · 28/06/2014 12:59

To me, shorter names are stronger. I would avoid anything with lots of syllables.

Ruth
Jane
Anne
Margot
Nadia

Rhubarbgarden · 28/06/2014 12:59

Helen

Mrsgrumble · 28/06/2014 15:10

I am from a strong catholic background and pray a lot to Our Lady (I don't really talk bout it in real life) that's why I like the name but am happy to go with it as a middle name if I found a lovely first name. I do like Evelyn too.

YY to Mary, then, Mrsgrumble.
