I love Oliver if I have boy. Also James, Joseph

Cannot think of a girls name I love that hasn't been used by close friends

Anna, Emma

I do like Sarah but any other suggestions grateful. I might go for Mary.

To me, Maria is stronger than Mary.

Anna is also strong, as is Helen.

My DD is Helena Maria.

Why do you pray to Our Lady and not directly to God? (I am Catholic myself but have never got this)

My friends little girl is called Meredith - I think that is a lovely strong name.

I'm not English but used to read a lot of English fiction as a child and loved the classic names such as: Jane, Anne, Mary, Ellen, Elizabeth, Margaret, Susan, Kate, Claire, Louise, Lottie, Penny, Diana, Jill...

I like Alice, Ellen, Elizabeth, Eloise, Anne, Lily and Rose...

I'm a Maria, named for Ave Maria and rarely come across another Maria. It's distinctive and different and I've always liked my name, if that helps!

My DD is Evelyn. We chose it because it's elegant and IMO quite a strong name. Also Evie is sweet for a little one.

Mary is nice, but I prefer it for a middle name. Also think Katherine (and its other spellings) is a good strong name too.

Should have mentioned Violet, Daisy and Poppy. Quite old-school but maybe not strong-classic.

Oh, and my niece is Maria and she's definitely a strong little girl!

I like Mary, Esther, Evelyn, Hazel, Comfort and Gaia.

I have a Santiago (Tia), Grace and Serenity. If I had a 4th girl I'd call her Esther after Esther in the Bible.

Mary, Esther and Comfort were my top girls names but DH disliked them all.

All your choices are so lovely.

DH and I agreed on Serena for our third, then a friend gace birth a few months before me and named her DD, we chose Serenity instead and she usually gets called Serenna for short as oppossed to Serena.

For a boy, I am going biblical, Jacob, but calling Kobe or Micah.

amothersplace I always did. I don't know why. I just find a connection I don't get at all when I say other prayers.

The suggestions are all great. Evie is very sweet too as a nickname. I do like Ellen but I have a niece Ella.

Would that matter? Ellen, Ella. We live opposite ends of the country and not easily offended type of people.

To me a classic strong name is not a nickname/diminutive or cute so I wouldn't include Poppy, Jenny, Lottie, Penny and I'm not sure about Daisy (although Daisies are quite no nonsense sort of flowers I guess!).

But Jennifer, Charlotte, Penelope would probably all be in. It sounds like the OP likes relatively plain traditional names.

Clare, Helen, Alice, Susan, Jane

If you are catholic and want a strong name have you considered Edel, after Edel Quinn?

Ruth is a strong old testament woman, and (I think) Damaris is the only female named in Acts. But Mary gets you your saint's name.
