Girls names to go with Alexander...

Having a few problems choosing a girls name for our daughter to be and hoping some of you can help.

We have a little boy called Alexander but always call him Alex.

Our favourite girls name is Alice. I think I already know the answer but is alex and Alice just too similar? Just need some second opinions before we completely rule it out...

There are a few others I like but mostly friends have used them.

And Scarlett came up recently. We are quite traditional (boring I guess!) so does that sound a bit adventurous???

Alice is a lovely name but I'm afraid it really does sound way too close to Alex, sorry.

But lots of great suggestions thank you! I probably prefer longer girls names but not too flowery so Charlotte is a favourite although do like Clara too and grace or Emily which are shorter.

Any opinions on Scarlett? Husband v keen and I just don't know!

I'm not keen on Scarlett - I much prefer Charlotte from your list. How about Charlotte Alice?

No, Scarlett doesn't match Alex at all. The sisters of the Alex's I know are Emma, Stephanie, Lucy and Rosa but I'm sticking with my original offering

From reading through this, I really like Beatrice.

Alexander and Beatrice go well together, as do Alex and Trixie, imo.

Charlotte Alice sounds gorgeous.

I know a little Alexander and his baby sister is called Penelope nn Pops.

I like the idea of a longer name with a shorter nickname to fit in with Alexander/Alex. Follows the same sort of pattern.

Elizabeth . Lovely strong girls name but with so many pretty nicknames for younger children/babies etc

Alice as a middle name? :) my name is listed above and my middle name is Alice :)
