Bit of a mash up between mine and DHs preferences, surname Cavendish. Middle name likely to be Juliet (not fussed about whether it goes with the FN as I barely use DDs FN amd MN together). DD is Meg (just Meg) if that helps with the critiquing:

Erin
Kate
Olive
Liv
Ivy
Matilda
Evelyn (could I use this without the inevetable Evie nn?)
Petra
Lilian
Nora
Orla
Robyn
Iris
Ruby

Sorry......its not that short yet!

How about Olive and call her Liv?

DiamondsAndRust · 07/06/2014 17:37

Erin - OK; no strong feelings either way
Kate - love it, and Kate Cavendish sounds very 'dashing' and competent somehow - like a character from a novel.
Olive - not a fan - bit plain/frumpy
Liv - too abbreviated for my taste
Ivy - cute. Not sure how well it ages though.
Matilda - very nice; becoming very popular though
Evelyn - quite like, but suspect Evie NN is inevitable!
Petra - dislike; sounds too Teutonic and harsh to me. Am probably biased by the fact that my (horrible) old German tutor was called Petra!
Lilian - OK. Prefer Lilia, but not a massive fan of Lily names in general.
Nora - no - another one who dislikes the 'Nor' sound.
Orla - pretty
Robyn - like
Iris - OK. Love the meaning/associations but always sounds a bit harsh to my ears.
Ruby - far too popular for me

My shortlist would be Kate, Ivy, Matilda, Orla and Robyn. Top choice probably Kate. Love Juliet as a MN - and Cavendish is the surname I always longed to have growing up, so lucky you (and DDs!)

Erin- 7/10 nice name
Kate- 6/10 would probably get called Katie alot though. Sounds like a nickname
Olive- 1/10 don't like it sorry
Liv- 1/10 don't like
Ivy- 6/10 alright name
Matilda- 2/10
Evelyn-7/10 nice name can be shortened to eve evie or lyn
Petra- 1/10 no way
Lilian- 5/10 alright name an be shortened to Lily
Nora- 3/10
Orla- 1/10
Robyn- 6/10
Iris- 1/10
Ruby 5/10

burgatroyd · 07/06/2014 19:01

Robyn is excellent. Would avoid Ivy as sounds like Evie, Eva, Ava and Evelyn for same reason.

CPtart · 07/06/2014 19:14

Love Erin
Like Kate
None of the others, particularly not Ruby, Olive or Matilda

Spottybra · 07/06/2014 19:16

I like your choices. You have dd's first and middle names on there.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 07/06/2014 19:27

Should add I am compiling this list based on feeling that this pg is a girl. I have my 20wk scan on Wednesday and will fall over in shock if its a boy!!

OP posts:
weatherall · 07/06/2014 19:29

I think meg goes well with Erin, ivy and iris.

Raskova · 07/06/2014 20:31

Ha! It'll be a boy then! I was certain DD was a boy. Even still didn't believe when four different scans had said.

Will you let us know what 'it' will be?????

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 07/06/2014 20:33

Probably! Then ill need to go through this name game again. Yep, ill update after Wednesday.

Our favourite name for a boy is probably Leo, but its a "mutually agreeable" name rather than an "I love" name.

It's a boy?! All this work for nothing Wink.

Leo's quite nice. Do not ask me for name ideas; I like outrageously pretentious boys' names like Cosmo and Lysander. Grin

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 11/06/2014 15:28

I know Only will have to give Iris out to someone else to use, am more sad about Juliet! But oberjoyed at boyness.
