Can only think of Darius but that doesn't have the inspirational human rights type theme I'm looking for. I love Aneurin but DH says no as Aneurin Barnard is my big crush!

I know a baby Aneurin.

Floggingmolly · 20/04/2014 23:38

Inspirational to whom? Confused. With a human rights theme...
Sweet Jesus Hmm

TwosaCrowd · 20/04/2014 23:40

Inspirational for the child, DS is Cyrus after Cyrus the Great, known for promoting religious tolerance and abolishing slavery.

Aneurin after the founder of the NHS. I think there are worse reasons to want to name a child for.

Aung San Suu Kyi for a girl and Jimmy Carter for a boy.

TheCraicDealer · 21/04/2014 00:39

Josiah, after Josiah Wedgewood? My first thought was Wilberforce, but it doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it.

PollyCazaletWannabe · 21/04/2014 00:44

Nelson?

RedNosedClone · 21/04/2014 00:50

Luther

hashtagwhatever · 21/04/2014 00:55

TheWorldAccordingToJC · 21/04/2014 08:04

Douglas - after Douglas Bader, who proved that people with physical handicaps can be capable of so many things and was an inspiration, as well as an ace WWII fighter pilot. (He lost both his legs in a pre-war flying accident and fought to be allowed to rejoin the RAF). The Douglas Bader Foundation exists to advance and promote the physical, mental and spiritual welfare of persons who are without one or more limbs, or otherwise physically disabled

Alexander? malcolm? Barack? Richard?

Timeandtune · 21/04/2014 13:57

How about Atticus after the character in To Kill a Mockingbird?

singersgirl · 21/04/2014 16:09

Martin. Peter. Mandela. Medgar. John. Bobby.

LineRunner · 21/04/2014 16:12

Gracchus.
Quilliam.
Fry.

TwosaCrowd · 21/04/2014 16:14

Good suggestions! Just to say it doesn't have to be human rights related, interested in hearing ideas of names that go with Cyrus!

singersgirl · 21/04/2014 16:22

Lech. Vaclav. Mohandas. William. Abraham. Frederick. Desmond. Henry or David (after Thoreau). Mikhail.

There are loads of inspirational people who've achieved different things in the human/civil rights arenas. I think you need to pick a name you like. You could call a child Thomas and say you'd named him after Paine/Jefferson etc.

SirRaymondClench · 21/04/2014 16:29

As Molly suggested, Jesus? Smile
