Our daughter is one week old. Please help us chose from this shortlist. Other suggestions welcome too..

Ida
Matilda
Phoebe
Claudia

We have probably already crossed off Vivienne and Florence from the shortlist.

Middle name we like is Rose. Again, other middle name suggestions welcome.

Ida is lovely, both classic but unusual.

Imnotsurehowtogetthisout · 19/04/2014 06:58

Thank you guineapig1. That has been my front runner from the start.

Ida Rose is lovely

Chottie · 19/04/2014 07:03

Phoebe is gorgeous, it's the type of name that goes with surnames easily too.

p.s. congratulations on your LO :) enjoy all those special newborn moments.

bakingtins · 19/04/2014 07:11

Congratulations! Phoebe Rose would be my favourite.

BikeRunSki · 19/04/2014 07:12

Ida

Delphiniumsblue · 19/04/2014 07:19

Matilda Rose

Nowitscleanugobshite · 19/04/2014 07:25

I like Ida but not sure about it with Rose. It might just be my accent but it sounds a bit like "I'd a rose.....on valentine's day"??

MyNameIsSuz · 19/04/2014 07:26

Phoebe's my favourite, Leila is lovely too. I'd say those two and Matilda are the most popular at the moment, if that sort of thing factors in at all? Have you tried calling her each name for a while and seeing if it fits?

WhispersOfWickedness · 19/04/2014 07:27

Ida is lovely, as is Matilda which was my favourite, but I couldn't get DH on board Sad

PartyFops · 19/04/2014 07:29

April Rose?

CSIJanner · 19/04/2014 07:31

I already know of three Matilda Rose's. it's a very pretty name and popular. I would go for Claudia Rose but then I haven't heard of any Claudius in recent years and tend to go for the less popular names.

Congratualtions to you all Grin

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 19/04/2014 07:33

Ooh, April!

Claudia Rose is lovely.

deemented · 19/04/2014 07:46

I quite like Claudia from your list.

What about Verity?

MrsBungle · 19/04/2014 07:47

Ida from your list. I love April.

TheKnightsThatSayNee · 19/04/2014 07:51

They are all lovely names.
Rose is such a popular middle name (mainly because it's lovely) how about Ida Mai or Ida grace. Lana is nice and along the same lines as Leila.

notadoctor · 19/04/2014 07:52

What a pretty list! I like all your names but I love Ida Rose.

I'm not sure suggestions are going to make your life easier but how about Ivy, Constance/ Connie or Iris?

Congratulations on your new baby!

Tangoandcreditcards · 19/04/2014 07:54

What about Imelda - a bit like Ida and Matilda combined.

It's a bit old fashioned, but I know 3 baby Matildas (if that bothers you). I do like Ida, but depends on surname (because of the I'd a... Thing).

Tangoandcreditcards · 19/04/2014 07:55

Oh, and congratulations!

purpleminion · 19/04/2014 08:00

How about Avril? I considered it for dd but she wasn't born til start of May.

Congratulations.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 19/04/2014 08:09

Claudia would be my favourite from that list, Ida least favourite - it sounds hard and old ladyish.

Somanyillustrations · 19/04/2014 08:12

Clara Rose. DS would have been Clara if he's been a girl.

Hooleywhipper · 19/04/2014 08:14

Congratulations Matilda here xx

wigglylines · 19/04/2014 08:16

TheKnightsThatSayNee I'm bemused that you're suggesting to use Mai or Grace on the grounds that Rose is popular.

Rose, Grace and May/Mai are the full set of default, popular middle names!

Rose is lovely, but about half her class will have it as a middle name. If that doesn't bother you go for it! But if it does, pick something other than Grace or May!
