Need an old fashioned boys name that isn't too common, HELP!

We both have the same taste in boys names (thank God) although all the ones we like are far too popular. Such as

Harry
Jack
Alfie
Oliver

and we have nephews called Billy and Charlie.

I've thought of names like Stanley and Reggie but just can't picture them on a baby/child.

Please can you suggest some names that are nice sounding and a bit different with this kind of theme?

Thanks in advance :)

Vincent, Geoffrey, Victor, Kenneth, Ronald?

Athelstan. I'm always trying to persuade people to use it, but I grant you it's a bit of an acquired taste.

How about George - I know it's spoken for, but apart from Wills and Kate it's not over-used.

I've heard a few 'Arthurs'.

lambychop · 09/04/2014 22:03

I really like Stanley. Names which I think are similar are Vinnie, Ralph, Tommy, Bobby, Archie and Freddy.

I like Edward too. And Joseph. And James but that is quite common.

Orrrr Fredmund!

Real Anglo-Saxon name I came across on a thread in Chat. It makes me smile Grin

What about something like James. I know lots of all the other names mentioned - Aethelstan excepted (which us awesome by the way). I don't know any James' at all in the baby - 11 year old age bracket and I have three boys with lots if friends.

Frederick I love.
William
Edgar/Edmund

Archie is a fab name MrsW!

LuckyOwl28 · 09/04/2014 22:07

Ooo I like a lot of those, thanks.

We have a daughter called Bethany which isn't particularly old fashioned but would like the name to compliment it if possible.

Should have mentioned middle name will be Anthony (family name), and possibly Thomas too (Dad's name).

George Anthony?
Vinnie Thomas Anthony?
Stanley Thomas Anthony?
Ronnie Thomas Anthony?

I love Freddie, Archile and Miles too.

Laurie makes me think of Little Women which would go with 'Beth' although don't know if my husband would find it as 'manly' sounding as he'd like.

He likes Rodney which I don't!!
