Like it? Love it? Or politely not for you?

Politely not for me.

nkf · 07/04/2014 22:10

It's very pretty.

Slavetominidictator · 07/04/2014 22:18

I have one - almost two. Known as Claudie at the moment. I do like it very much and get a v positive response to it almost always.

Linguaphile · 07/04/2014 23:24

Love it. Wish I'd used it on one of my girls, but alas it will have to wait for baby number three if she's another girl!

thoughtsbecomethings · 07/04/2014 23:26

Love itGrin

alittlebitcountry · 07/04/2014 23:32

It's not to my taste but there isn't anything wrong with it for someone else. Good nickname of Claude. I just think there are better names. It doesn't really do anything for me. It's Latin-y but not particularly pretty. I think it's the CL sound-maybe it sounds heavy?

I love it. I'm a big Interview With the Vampire fan and I always thought Claudia was the most fascinating character Smile

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 08/04/2014 14:45

It was my grandmother's name. It was considered too posh for a servant so she was called Gwladys by her employers! Shock I have it as a middle name and hated it as a child, but now wish it had been my first name.

Spindelina · 09/04/2014 08:24

As a general principle, I dislike names where there is ambiguity of pronunciation. So, politely not for me.

ZingSweetCoconut · 09/04/2014 09:22

since the joke all I ever hear is "Cloudier"

sorry, it's a no from me, but only for that reason

squoosh · 09/04/2014 12:05

I hate when people go on about the 'lame' thing. Tons of names have less than pleasant meanings.

NigellasDealer · 09/04/2014 12:08

I really like it but only when it is 'cloudier' not 'clawdia'

WillowKnicks · 09/04/2014 12:21

Love it.

Fortunately, I never studied Latin Grin

Blueberrybaby · 10/04/2014 03:21

I love it and I have one. Good thing about this name is that it usually divides opinion because of the meaning, and it's for that reason I think that it languishes somewhere around the 260th mark in terms of popularity. Lots of people I think like it but worry about the meaning. Others, like me, couldn't care less! So if you are worried about popularity then it's a good one to go for. My own Claudia isn't even a year yet, so it's not much to go on, but so far she is the only one we have come into contact with.

Smugfearnleyshittingstool · 10/04/2014 08:02

I love it! And have no regrets at all about using it for dd2, who is 4, she is mostly claudie at home, although her friends usually say Claudia. I know our families were not keen initially but I didn't care, it seems to be popping up here more recently though so may be getting more popular, we've never met another though.

Blueberrybaby · 10/04/2014 12:00

I agree it is very popular here on MN. I have wondered how many of the 178 babies named Claudia in 2012 have mothers who are MNetters! I would say a fairly high percentage. Mine is a 2013 one so I will be interested to see if it's popularity has risen.

HandragsNGladbags · 10/04/2014 12:05

Mine is a 2011 Claudia and think it suits her perfectly.

Good strong name that everyone has heard of, which isn't mega popular

MrsCharlesBrandon · 10/04/2014 12:09

My eldest (nearly 14) Goddaughter is a Claudia, and although i was a bit Hmm when first told her name I now love it and couldn't imagine her being anything else.
