Is Katie too popular?

Thinking of this name for dd2 (but Katherine on birth certificate).

Dd1 has a very unusual but classic name i.e. Juliet

I love that dd1 name isn't in the top 100 and though I love Katie it seems to be getting popular.

don't know that many Katies to be honest.

I would actually prefer to call her just Katherine but dh adamant he loves Katie.

OP, I have a Katherine and we have always called her both Katherine and Kate. I also call her Katy. It is a very versatile name as you can change it according to your mood! It isn't popular among little girls atm but is classic and timeless - lots of beautiful historic Katherines.

If it helps, Katie was 66th in the list of top 100 names in England and Wales published by the Office of National Statistics in 2012, the last year for which figures have been published.

I know 3 Katies/Katys under 5, and a couple of Katherines.

But it's a timeless name. And Kate is every bit as Shakespearean as Juliet!
