How does one pronounce Georgiana, is it one n or Georgianna? Also is it a better middle name for Matilda than Georgina?

BrennanHasAMangina · 21/02/2014 21:39

Jor-jee-anna. It's one name.

juneybean · 21/02/2014 21:40

I think its Geor-jayna but I'm not sure

LizzieVereker · 21/02/2014 21:40

I think it's usually pronounce Jaw- jay-nah.

But I think Jaw-gee-arn-ah is prettier.

MuttonCadet · 21/02/2014 21:41

Goerge-eee-arna agree with happy

Way too big a middle name god Matilda

HandMini · 21/02/2014 21:48

Jaw-jay-nah.

YouAreTalkingRubbish · 21/02/2014 21:50

Jaw jee arna

PandaFeet · 21/02/2014 21:50

Jor-jay-nah.

I love it and would love to use it, but the child would spend their life correcting peoples pronunciation, so I can't.

Seminyak · 21/02/2014 21:51

I'd say:

Jee-or-jee-ah-na

Slight emphasis on the ah.

Amandine29 · 21/02/2014 21:53

It's supposed to be Jor-jay-nah but you will have people telling you it's Jor-je-arr-nah.

Seminyak · 21/02/2014 21:53

Think Matilda Georgiana flows better than Matilda Georgina (how I pronounce it it does anyway!) :)

DramaAlpaca · 21/02/2014 21:54

Agree with LizzieVereker on the pronunciation.

I also think it's a bit too fussy a middle name for Matilda.

YummyMummybee · 21/02/2014 21:54

It's a version of a family name we need to include, don't really like Georgina or Georgia but do like Georgiana. Just want whatever version fits best with first name Matilda!

Jor-jee-Anna

ChaffinchOfDoom · 21/02/2014 22:01

Jor -jee- ar- nah

MaxsMummy2012 · 21/02/2014 22:04

It's spelt that way in the film 'The Duchess' and they pronounce it jor-jay-nah.

Ohmydarlin · 21/02/2014 22:48

Jor Jane nah

It's a lovely name but two three syllable names both ending in 'a' doesn't really flow.

Jux · 21/02/2014 23:11

Jor Jar Ner

Orangeisthenewbanana · 22/02/2014 00:03

Jaw-gee-ar-nah

CointreauVersial · 22/02/2014 00:07

Correct pronunciation is Jaw-jayne-ah, in other words, two syllables.

But like many names, there are alternatives. But do you want a name where you will be correcting people for ever?
