hello
I have a three year old DD Nancy and am looking for girl / boy names to go with it - grateful for any all suggestions - it seems hard to match - and I didn't think about matching when i chose her name!
Thank you!

Yeah Hattie is nice too - I just worked with one who was less than pleasant and was known as Twattie Hattie - tricky. I think it's rather lovely but also very much like Elizabeth and love Bess as a nn, and Beth and Libby actually!

Good note not to go for Sid if it's a boy!! Love Joseph but several of the boys appeal, Benjamin beautiful too

Know what you mean about matching - I guess am just a bit of a tidy person and kind of need it to match - that will be my hang up!

Would totally go for Beatrice if it wasn't for some family history

OP, I think names should (if possible) sound like they were chosen by the same set of parents. I mean, Mistral and Willow together (eg) sound like brother and sister. But Willow and Andrew, what's that, is one a dog? is one an older half brother??! Obviously this is just my opinion.

Peggy!

Don't go for Elizabeth/Beth. The two main prostitutes in Oliver Twist are Nancy and Bet. That's a bit too matchy.

KatherinaMinola · 06/02/2014 21:37

Or William, for that matter.

Good point about Anne - thank you! And very good tip re Elizabeth! Very glad you told me that! Will also avoid Willism (and Oliver!)

I keep being drawn to the girls names, maybe that's ing me something!

I like Molly, is it very overused though?

aoife24 · 12/02/2014 18:33

I'd say Martha. Both strike me as American for some reason.

Misspilly88 · 15/02/2014 10:35

Nancy and Martha just fit together IMO, love both

Kaekae · 15/02/2014 13:10

Jemima instantly came to thought when I said Nancy. Love Nancy BTW, think it is a really sweet name.

rockybalboa · 15/02/2014 13:11

Aw, Nancy was our girls' name. But I have 3 boys. Barnaby, Rory and Monty (outs self...) so it never got an outing. The other girls name we really liked was Polly.
