So I think we are down to two names for our DD due in May. Would love to know which you prefer - Anya (nn Annie) or Maya?

Anya

Maya (but DD1 is Maya so I'm hardly impartial!)

But I obviously like Annie too Grin

Annie is beautiful Smile

PlumpPartridge · 04/02/2014 09:24

Maya.

I love Maya. Anya seems a little milk-maidish. Nice but a bit too wholesome for me! Maya is exciting and strong.

OBface · 04/02/2014 09:43

Anya - no debate.

So many Maya/Mia/Myas around

bronya · 04/02/2014 09:44

I love Maya :).

BlueStarsAtNight · 04/02/2014 10:04

Anya. Too many Maya's, and I hear people pronounce it as May-a rather than My-a which annoys me!

akachan · 04/02/2014 10:40

I would pronounce it May-a, is that wrong?!

UriGeller · 04/02/2014 10:42

Its pronounced May-ah. Mia is pronounced Mee-ah. Mya is pronounced My-ah.

The Maya I know is in her 30's . Also, see Maya Angelou.

Anya

Sorelip · 04/02/2014 11:01

Anya definitely. Would have used it myself if I'd had a daughter.

TanteRose · 04/02/2014 11:02

Maya

scoobysu · 04/02/2014 11:03

I was going to pronounce it May-a too. I don't like the Miy-ah or Mee-ah pronounciations so the fact we're discussing how to say it is putting me off. We have a surname that is difficult to spell and pronounce....so having two names she would have to spell would get rather annoying. Definitely swaying to Anya/Annie now! :)

There are 20 gazillion Maya/Mia toddlers in our area so I would go for Anya

KuppiKahvia · 04/02/2014 11:24

Anya definitely, don't like Maya.

BlueChampagne · 04/02/2014 11:31
