Both lovely.

pictish · 23/01/2014 21:52

Um...no?
What's wrong with Daphne and Odette?

dyslexicdespot · 23/01/2014 21:53

That you should be a good friend and refrain from starting threads about her name choices.

ditsydoll · 23/01/2014 21:53

Who said there was anything wrong with them?

lambbone · 23/01/2014 21:54

Lovely names!

SS3J · 23/01/2014 21:54

I quite like Daphne. Not keen on Odette, as it just makes me think odd. Just a matter of taste though, they are not bad names. Why do you ask?

pictish · 23/01/2014 21:54

Why are you asking?

Shente · 23/01/2014 21:54

They're great, but why are you asking?

ditsydoll · 23/01/2014 21:54

She's had a lot of mixed reviews and just thought I'd see what everyone thought. I personally think they are beautiful names..

OP posts:
Auntierosemary · 23/01/2014 21:55

Yep, lovely. Especially odette, like the folk singer odetta. Arent your friend and her kids going to be easily identified on this thread? Potentially hurtful, no?

Trooperslane · 23/01/2014 21:55

What dyslexic said.

Did she ask you to ask MN?

pictish · 23/01/2014 21:56

Oh. Well I like them. Daphne less so...but it's not a bad name by any means. I prefer Delphine personally.

bonvivant · 23/01/2014 21:56

I really like Odette. I wouldn't have paired it with Daphne personally

onetiredmummy · 23/01/2014 21:56

Odette I like as it remind me of Swan Lake and I love that ballet.

Daphne I don't like, tis dated.

ditsydoll · 23/01/2014 21:57

She's had a few bad comments about the names and I coupdnt really see why as I think they are lovely, just thought I'd see what all you ladies thought.. I hadn't meant anything bad by it..

OP posts:
lilyaldrin · 23/01/2014 21:58

Love them both.

ditsydoll · 23/01/2014 22:00

She asked me what I thought and I said i thought they where beautiful, Iv just posted in here to get a general thought on the names as she was worried after having mixed reviews.

OP posts:
poppydaisy · 23/01/2014 22:00

I wouldn't feel comfortable posting my friends' chosen names for her babies on the internet.

colditz · 23/01/2014 22:01

They are going to be known as Daffy and Dodie by the time they are four.

ditsydoll · 23/01/2014 22:03

Daffy and dodie?

OP posts:
JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/01/2014 22:03

Perhaps if she wanted a Mn verdict she would have asked herself? I do love both names, so unusual and underused.

Picturesinthefirelight · 23/01/2014 22:04

Is she a ballet & opera fan by any chance.

HyvaPaiva · 23/01/2014 22:05

I would be really annoyed if a friend put my children's names online and asked for strangers' 'thoughts'. Particularly as they are twin names that are quite unusual so more easily identifiable.

Confused
RobinSparkles · 23/01/2014 22:06

Odette is pretty, reminds me of Swan Lake too.

To me, Daphne will always be the woman who gave birth through her dungarees, in Neighbours. Or a duck.

Sorry.

ditsydoll · 23/01/2014 22:08

I only posted so I could show her all the nice comments about the names to reassure her (providing the comments where nice) she doesn't use mn.
I was just trying to reassure her as she's been worried after people being abit rude about her name choices.
I genuinely was trying to be nice..
