I have an Arlo too! And Ezra was on our list.

I think Arlo is only well known on MN!

RoseHoney · 12/01/2014 21:28

How strange I was just asking OH the same question! Both are lovely but I did know a lady with a daughter called Ezra which kinda makes me think it's too feminine. My eldest sons name ends in an A though so don't think it's the a ending.
I'm leaning towards Arlo but I think both are gorgeous names! Smile

JanePurdy · 12/01/2014 22:48

Ezra.

RiojaHaze · 12/01/2014 22:52

I have an Arlo too and he's the only one around here!

So that gets my vote too Grin

Vikkijayne2507 · 12/01/2014 23:26

ezra as arlo sounds like how people from Harlow say it

HopeS01 · 13/01/2014 10:28

Ezra! How on earth can people ask how you spell it? It's a wonderful biblical name and not at all feminine

KLou1105 · 13/01/2014 12:11

I like both, is it for a boy or girl? I prefer Arlo for boy and Ezra for girl x

perfectview · 13/01/2014 12:15

You can't call a girl Ezra! It is a boy's name and lovely with it.

DitsyDonkey · 13/01/2014 12:18

It's for a boy! I like Polly for a girl or Juno.

I like Arlo best.

HomeHelpMeGawd · 13/01/2014 12:28

Ezra is from the Hebrew root E-Z-R which means "help".

Arlo means "barberry tree".

Maybe this will help you make up your mind?

DitsyDonkey · 14/01/2014 19:13

I'm not overly bothered by the meanings once it doesn't mean something awful!

Oh I still don't know! They are both fabulous names! Grin

They are! So you can't lose really.

mrsgumpy · 15/01/2014 20:12

I prefer Ezra.

What about Otto? (my current favourite boy's name)

DitsyDonkey · 15/01/2014 20:33

Mrsgrumpy....Otto was previously on my list.....don't really know why I discounted it Hmm probably the bad influence of my dh!

Same as Vikkijayne, I can't take Arlo seriously at all, sorry. I've got relatives from Harlow and with an Essex accent the two words sound exactly the same. My Essex cousin couldn't believe it was a real name when he heard someone calling for their son recently.

Also, personal opinion, I think it sounds a bit pretentious. So I'd go for Ezra.

nooka · 16/01/2014 05:40

We were going to have an Ezzie, so I vote for Ezra too. My sister had a boyfriend called Ivo, which I prefer to Arlo, although it's a bit nicknamish.

2blessed · 16/01/2014 05:44

I have always loved Ezra

Astralabe · 17/01/2014 13:13

Where are you? I live in Bristol and know a few Arlos - heard it being used in the park a few times too. We were going to use it if first had been a boy though, so I do like it.

Wallpaper123 · 17/01/2014 13:44

Arlo is nicer, but they are both good. Depends on how they chime with the surname.

HyvaPaiva · 17/01/2014 13:48

I like them both! I can't decide.

Arlo. It's nicer to say. Ridiculous reason, but the only way I could decide!

WowserBowser · 18/01/2014 12:32

Astralabe I live in the North West and people always comment on how unusual Arlo is. I was talking to someone the other day and i said it's popular in Bristol. My DH looked at me like i was crazy.

DitsyDonkey · 18/01/2014 16:31

Both go well with our surname. I'm in Ireland so i very much doubt there is even one Arlo or Ezra over here I'm sure I will get lots of Hmm and Confused

Arlo is starting to get popular in America....useless bit of info for you there.....and Johny Knoxville even named his daughter Arlo....more useless info.....and your one from Muriel's Wedding has a ds called Arlo....I will get my coat now! Blush

Another who thinks Ezra is a bit feminine, I think its the 'a' ending. I don't actually dislike it though.

I really like Arlo!

toobreathless · 18/01/2014 19:36

Arlo at a push but love them both.
