Help me name DC3 - mixed race

orangestripe · 29/12/2013 22:27

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with DC3. This will be a girl, we have 2 boys already. DH is British Indian, I am White British (or whatever you call it).

Our 2 DSs have Indian first names with Classic English Middle names.

Struggling to find a girl's name that we both like. Started off looking at Indian names but are now just looking at everything since it's getting closer to needing a name.

Any inspiration greatly appreciated!

My DD Indian friends all have english names? And my Asian friends children have names which sound very English but look Indian when written down, if that makes any sense.

I love Sarita too - it's my sister's name! Really pretty, easy to pronounce but a bit different.

Fifibluebell · 30/12/2013 12:55

I know a little girl with the same mix called...Kavita

orangestripe · 30/12/2013 14:52

There are lots of names coming up on here that I haven't seen before, so thank you.

Ones I like best so far on here:

Sarita
Saffron
Rania

Some I love but can't use for family reasons (some don't "go" with our surname and some are being used already by DH's cousins for their children).

Thanks again and please do keep em coming if you think of more.

I once met a lovely British Asian girl called Lakshmi. I think you can also spell it Laxmi, but I might be wrong on that one.

Lullabyte · 01/01/2014 09:26

Sarita is gorgeous. As is Rania.

How about Vinita?

AndTheBeatGoesOn · 01/01/2014 13:07

How about Maya, Mia or Mya?

starlightloz · 01/01/2014 19:48

Aayasha (pronounced I eesha)
Riya
Amira

orangestripe · 01/01/2014 19:59

Thanks for keeping the ideas coming.

I really like Safia but DH says the sound saf (which I'd end up shortening it to sometimes - esp since I really like Saf and Saffy) means "to clean" in Gujarati and he doesn't like that.

We have a Maya (which they pronounce M-eye-a) in our close family already, but it is indeed a nice name.
