Have woken up this morning in love with this name, Dh says its a cow's name. What's your vote? Cute, cow or utterly butterly

I like it a lot. If Flora can make a comeback I can't see why Clover isn't acceptable!

cjbk1 · 22/12/2013 09:42

I quite like it

cjbk1 · 22/12/2013 09:47

and Marjorie is a name-haters doesn't that more sound like....

HyvaPaiva · 22/12/2013 09:50

I thought butter and cows
DP said there's a song 'roll me over in the clover'
For both reasons, no.

Onesleeptillwembley · 22/12/2013 09:52

If you had identical twins people could say 'I can't believe it's not Clover'.…….……

I'll get my coat slinks off

ovenbun · 22/12/2013 10:06

Ha! I wish it was identical twins that would be awesome! I LOVED what katy did growing up which is why I like the name I think. But think I'm going to have to accept that this is a hormone fuelled name crush....back to the drawing board :)
Cannot risk jokes about her spreading easily if she grows up to be a slutty teen :)

Love it (What Katy Did fan). Don't be put off. I had a margarine-monikered friend. Yes, she got a few jokes but it's a beautiful name.

Butter

Bankholidaybaby · 22/12/2013 12:01

Started reading the thread fully intending to write 'no, cow, butter' but I have now warmed to it. I was considering Bessie for my baby and had similar doubts about that. Turned out to be a boy, so I never had to resolve that one.

Depending on your surname, she might sound like a female character in a superhero comic book. That might not be a bad thing!

NigellasDealer · 22/12/2013 12:02

haha how about 'Utterly Butterly'?

RalphRecklessCardew · 22/12/2013 12:05

Like it. No more of a cow's name than Daisy. I'd avoid it if she's likely to be stout with big round eyes.

squoosh · 22/12/2013 17:13

My DD is called Clover! It was the first name on my list when pg and as the list grew, I kept coming back to it. Once DD was born, DP really opposed it and said we couldn't name her after a cow.

We didn't register her birth until the day of the deadline and were arguing about it until minutes beforehand. I got my way though and Clover she is. Funnily enough, we've not had one single negative comment since naming her and the only person who's joked about the butter connection is me! (have actually got a photo of her in Tesco looking at the butter with her name on it).

I can't imagine her being called anything else now Smile

Climbingthewalls12 · 22/12/2013 21:21
