Non biblical girls names

I'm looking for a non biblical girl's name. Still want something quite classic, no flower names.
And when I say non biblical we also don't want names that are thought of as being part the 'Christian community' - so most Irish names , though I love them , and european names are out - nothing associated even vaguely as 'catholic'.
Any ideas?

Emily? It is non biblical as in not in the Bible. I may have misunderstood your criteria though.

Britishseamonkey · 11/12/2013 23:27

No I don't think you did! I meant things like Francesca and Mariella ( which I love but oh has very strict criteria)
Emily is pretty but I'm hoping to find a name that makes me feel more 'excited' . We're pretty stumped.

non Christian that is!

SS3J · 12/12/2013 11:54

I'm pretty sure Chloe is in the bible. Don't think it has particularly Catholic connotations though. What about Iona?

Beeyump · 12/12/2013 12:14

Chloe is in the Bible. So is Julia I think

HavantGuard · 12/12/2013 14:42

Wow. That's fairly bigoted.

Anything very clearly associated with a different religious system, so a Greek or roman goddess. Even if the name happens to be somewhere in the bible, the association is clearly with that other religion.

Or go Nordic. Freya, Ingrid, there are some lovely Nordic names.

daughterofafarmer · 12/12/2013 19:38

I really don't get why it's bigoted?!?

Plenty of people regularly ask for example scottish, flower, unisex based names etc etc.

AuntieStella · 12/12/2013 19:47

I think you will need to check carefully -several suggestions are in the Bible (Zoe, Lydia, Bethany - probabl others) or conspicuously Christian (such as Dorothea) or saints' names.

Do you like names fromth Greek myths?

Minty82 · 12/12/2013 19:51

Susannah's definitely biblical too I'm afraid...

cantthinkofagoodone · 12/12/2013 19:56

Ottilie
Ophelia
