Is Roger due a revival?

I haven't seen any mumsnetters mention the name 'Roger', so what do you reckon? Is it due a revival? What other names could be resurrected?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
smother · 20/11/2013 13:45

No. Next?

squoosh · 20/11/2013 13:47

Hopefully not.

Arabesque1 · 20/11/2013 13:48

Eh, no.

MrsJohnDeere · 20/11/2013 13:56

No

tweetytwat · 20/11/2013 13:57

I doubt it. Not before Kevin, Keith and Wayne at least.

heidihole · 20/11/2013 14:01

Christ, no

DawnOfTheDee · 20/11/2013 14:04

Nope.

EyeOfNewtBigtoesOfFrog · 20/11/2013 14:05

Baby Roger. Doesn't sound right!

In fact it sounds so wrong, I can't imagine that even people who are called Roger were ever actually a baby called Roger.

LCHammer · 20/11/2013 14:06

Roger is out.

Brian, Walter, Norman stand a chance.

squoosh · 20/11/2013 14:14

I mean it will definitely come back in just hopefully not for a while yet. Brace yourselves ladies for a future grandson called Roger. Start practising your best 'oh what a lovely name', 30 years should be enough notice to become halfway convincing.

Stanley is your parents' Roger.

PelvicFloorOfRassilonClenchRem · 20/11/2013 14:15

The world just isn't ready for an influx of baby Rogers just yet.

SirChenjin · 20/11/2013 14:16

Oh lordy, I hope not. You might as well call him Shag.

PelvicFloorOfRassilonClenchRem · 20/11/2013 14:16

Maybe Nicholas?

squoosh · 20/11/2013 14:18

Brian and Kevin are still in the top 100 Irish boys names. And Martin! We laugh in the face of fashion!

UriGeller · 20/11/2013 14:20

No.

Patrick
Douglas
And Noel at a push.

But not Roger

MadBusLady · 20/11/2013 14:23

I like Roger.

I agree the double meaning is maybe too much of a problem though.

DorothyGherkins · 20/11/2013 14:23

It was Roger who compiled that wonderful thesaurus. No one took his work seriously until he changed his name to Roget.

CockyMcChicken · 20/11/2013 14:24

My sister is going to name her baby Roland if it's a boy.

squoosh · 20/11/2013 14:26

Roland reminds me of Grange Hill.

TopHatAndTails · 20/11/2013 14:30

No, I don't think so. Colin?

LCHammer · 20/11/2013 14:38

Roger's thesaurus. A million ways to avoid using a word. He knew what he was talking about.

eurochick · 20/11/2013 14:42

Although that was Roget...

But still no to Roger.

Arabesque1 · 20/11/2013 14:43

Roland is quite retro. Roger, on the other hand (and apart from the obvious problem) is very much on a par with Colin, Brian or Terry.

Scarletohello · 20/11/2013 14:44

Only if your second name is Rabbit.

Pennythedog · 20/11/2013 14:45

I know a few baby Colins. It's definitely coming back.

Don't know any baby Rogers though.
